Primary Location: US-FL-Coral Gables-Latin America Support CenterStarbucks - QualityJob Summary and MissionThis job contributes to Starbucks success by implementing and executing Quality, Food Safety and Retail/Foodservice Regulatory Compliance programs to ensure the availability of safe, wholesome, premium quality finished products for our customers. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.Summary of Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:Support the development, validation and implementation of new and existing food/beverage products, store equipment and store design to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations. Collaborate with Global, Regional and Americas operations to develop and implement product handling standards and procedures using both behavioral and HACCP-based approaches to ensure products are safe, wholesome and compliant in the markets they will be commercialized. Collaborate with regional and local teams to develop/adapt test protocols and procedures for evaluation of quality parameters as it relates to equipment development and operations processes.Research and communicate regulations, quality standards and industry best practices. Influence cross-functional project teams to ensure business initiatives meet Regulatory, Product Safety and Quality standards and requirements.Summarize data, identify risks and provide feedback to key stakeholders. Review and/or update store operating procedures, training programs, standards manuals and tools related to food safety, sanitation and regulatory compliance. Support the investigation and troubleshooting of quality, product safety and regulatory issues arising from stores, regulators and customers. Support implementation of corrective actions and process improvements to resolve issues Monitor and validate Food Safety and Quality Systems compliance by local and regional suppliers and distributors, as approved by Regional Quality managementSupport local sourcing projects by assessing and validating supplier and distributors capabilitiesProvide training, coaching and guidance to local QA resources on Starbucks Standards both in the Retail and Supply QA spaceProvide training, coaching and guidance to local Operations teams on Starbucks StandardsMay lead low to medium complexity projects to develop or improve systems, standards, processes, and/or procedures.Compile and report quality metrics, audit data, customer feedback, regulator and workgroup input. Highlight trends and potential opportunities.Maintain required documentation and critical records. Maintain current expertise in product regulations, product safety best practices, public health regulations and industry best practices.Travel to the assigned region, up to 50%Report to/assist Regional Food Safety & Quality Leader and substitute when requiredSummary of ExperienceScience degree in Environmental Public Health / Food Biology / Chemistry / Microbiology, or closely related background. REHS, CP-FS, or equivalent certification is preferred.Assess safety & regulatory compliance of food and food equipment 3 yearsReview Foodservice Establishment Plans (i.e. Plan Review) 3 yearsGathers, records and reports on quality metrics or performance indicators 3 yearsRetail or Foodservice OperationsFood Manufacturing and Distribution Operations 1 year3 yearsRequired Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesFully bilingual: English and Spanish languages required.
