Our Tanami Operations, 540km north-west of Alice Springs, are on Aboriginal freehold land, in the NT’s remote Tanami Desert. A fully equipped 1000-bed village, 40km from the mine, offers modern leisure facilities to the workforce who FIFO direct from Perth, Darwin and Alice Springs.

The Role

Reporting to the Fixed Plant Maintenance Foreman, the Electrical Supervisor is responsible for planning and coordinating all weekly and daily maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner.

The role is based in Tanami and offers an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth, Darwin & Alice Springs ONLY.

Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

Ensure safe execution of maintenance work as per the agreed schedule by collaborating daily with maintenance staff. Providing clear direction and expected outcomes in safety, quality of repair and turnaround times.

Ensure regulatory competency and compliance of individuals is maintained.

Manage the planning and execution of unplanned (break-in) work and the re-scheduling of tasks as required.

Oversee all parts requisitioning, disposal of unusable parts and classification of reclaimable and reusable parts in relation to repairs.

Prioritising and assigning work provide instruction, assistance and direction to all staff and contractors in a courteous manner.

Responsible for workshop tooling. Ensuring unsafe tooling attended to promptly.

Regular workshop floor inspections to oversee maintenance practices are within the safety guidelines and standard operating practices.

Conduct safety incidents investigation and conduct a proactive effort to reduce / eliminate incidents.

Lead and model high standards in the company’s safety and environmental systems, standards and legislative requirements

Ensure that the quality requirements of Newmont are adhered to and that company procedures are followed, and sign off on team’s quality documentation

Ensure compliance with Newmonts safety environmental systems, standards and legislative requirements

Create a culture that fosters high performance in business and personal improvement

The Person

Trade qualified.

Previous electrical supervisory experience

Experience in the performance management of a diverse range of trades personnel

Exposure to industry maintenance planning techniques and computerized maintenance systems.

Ability to meet deadlines, manage time effectively and leadership qualities.

High level of self-motivation.

Good communication and team work skills essential.

To be considered for these roles, you must be able to meet the site access requirements by having a current drivers license, passing a police clearance and pre employment medical.
