Air Products, a company of approximately 15,000 employees, is the world's safest and best performing industrial gases company, providing sustainable offerings and excellent service to all customers.   We strive to be a company of choice that is recognized by its colleagues, customers, and community as a company that draws strength, opportunity and financial growth from the diversity of its workforce.  Our success will be directly attributed to having a work environment that is collaborative, inclusive and respectful of all people.Air Products is looking for a metals and welding processes candidate to join our South Region sales team in a Technical Sales Specialist role.  We have an opening for one Sales Specialist and this person may be located in either Houston, TX, Dallas, TX, or the Southern, LA area, and has a regional territory between certain Texas and Gulf Coast cities.  This Outside (Field) Business to Business technical sales specialist position is responsible for supporting the selling of Microbulk and small bulk cryogenic industrial gases (e.g. argon, nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide) primarily focused on the metals fabrication industries (including: welding, flame, plasma, and laser cutting).  Primary responsibilities include using experience in customer applications to identify and sell a benefits case to new customers while delivering and exceeding on individual sales and profit targets, and providing specialist guidance and training to local based sales reps that sell across all industry sectors.  He / She will be looked to for input on product development and strategic growth initiatives.He / She must be able to act with accountability and make appropriate and timely decisions that drives toward the goal of being the best in the industry in all aspects of their work.  The Sales Specialist is expected to be innovative and have the ability to introduce new ways of looking at problems and getting work done through the ability to propose value-added solutions. Travel: 50% within the territory Skill Set:Strong welding, lasers, and metals processing knowledge with the ability to provide hands-on demonstrationsStrong selling/influencing/persuasion/closing skillsStrong craft and trade skillsSelf-starterHighly competitiveComfortable conducting face to face cold calls with businesses within the territory on a weekly basisStrategic thinkingDevelop and manage a pipeline of 50 prospectsDisciplined work habits Qualifications / Requirements:5 years of welding experience working with a variety of metals types and welding techniquesExperience in thermal cutting applications (laser, plasma, oxyfuel)BS in Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience is requiredWelding Certifications and/or Certified Welding Inspector preferredExperience in technical selling in the welding and metals processing preferredCapable of understanding a customer's requirements articulate improvements to their use of industrial gases and mixturesStrong desire to be in outside salesStay up to date on industry knowledge and technologyMust have a valid driver's license, good driving record and your ownComputer skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internal softwareAir Products (NYSE:APD) is a world-leading Industrial Gases company in operation for over 75 years.
