Job Description:

Ameriprise Financial is currently seeking a Vice President, Consumer Content who will report to the Vice President, Content and Employment Marketing. The Vice President, Consumer Content will lead a team to support Ameriprise Financial business lines by bringing to life our mission: helping clients feel more confident about their financial future. The Vice President will lead a team of 12 or more individuals and will report to the Vice President, Content and Employment Marketing.

The primary mandate of the role is to ensure content effectively and consistently drives strong engagement with consumers across channels – both digital and traditional.

The ideal candidate for this position is an accomplished content strategist with an intuition for user experiences across digital and traditional channels as well as experience with operating across multiple content systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

Lead the strategy for consumer content marketing that enhances client/prospect consideration and preference; provides high quality and consistent content experience, efficiently create/leverage content assets, track ongoing performance and optimize to drive results.

Lead an omni-channel content marketing strategy to support the growth of the Ameriprise Financial Advice and Wealth Management group and other Ameriprise brands.

Collaborate with business partners to create differentiated branded content that supports email marketing, editorial planning, core collateral, websites, social channels, seminars and native advertising. As required, adapt strategies and lead teams through changing market circumstances. Clearly communicate the strategic direction of Content Marketing to the team and key partners.

Be accountable for ensuring the Content team and external agencies understand and apply consumer insights that inform strategy, messaging and ongoing optimization.

Amplify Ameriprise Financials’ content across target audiences, specifically leveraging the digital platforms. The successful candidate help ensure team delivers innovative ways of engaging audiences via digital and social media.

He/She will leverage analytics using an insight-based approach to distilling data into intelligence to enable continuous improvement and enhance the knowledge that is brought to client relationships.

Ensure effective controls are in place to proactively manage risk and remain in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Effective people, program and team leadership; Build a high performing, collaborative, direct, accountable and positive culture.

Required Qualifications:

Must be able to effectively motivate and lead effective crossfunctional teams in addition to having:

10 years of leading content marketing and strategy development teams.

Experience with content architecture, platform development and support, ongoing content management, CRM and marketing automation systems.

Demonstrated success in strategic communications development.

Proven ability to lead, influence, communicate and interact with people at all levels across the organization.

A sophisticated and integrated content strategist with excellent working knowledge of digital and traditional marketing formats and tools.

An experienced leader in content development and management with a proven track record of using communications to drive business results.

Proven leadership skills – team building, supervision, mentoring and managing diverse teams to drive results.

Creative thinking and innovative problem solving.

Maximize relationships, build trust, and communicate effectively across the business.

Able to lead and influence within Ameriprise’s matrixed organization through relationship building and strong presence.

This is a highly visible role that requires forward thinking, challenges the status quo and keeps abreast of the latest trends in financial planning within financial services.

This position requires a Series 7 or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

MBA or other advanced degree.

Ability to quickly and calmly adapt to diverse and changing environments.
