Franklin Templeton’s Global Product Management group is responsible for providing leadership in ensuring that the firm’s investment products are positioned at the highest levels of investment market standards, and that this is effectively communicated internally and externally. The Vice President (VP), Senior Product Manager for the North American Equity Product Management team will act as a liaison between investment management, distribution and our other internal business partners. In this capacity, the Senior Product Manager is expected to serve as a product expert and product champion for several US equity and hybrid (multi-asset) strategies. This role is responsible for the promotion, defense and competitive positioning of the product line, and is actively involved in global distribution initiatives, institutional and retail client service. Key success metrics include demonstrating ownership, strategic direction-setting and prioritization for the assigned investment platform. In concert with these efforts, an important function is content development, working with internal parties to ensure accurate and compelling representation of the investment strategies under coverage, working closely with the Director of the team in support of key initiatives and ad hoc projects. The day-to-day role of a Senior Product Manager is a fluid one, with the immediate needs of the products generally dictating what must be the required focus. The Senior Product Manager works with senior sales professionals to promote and competitively position these strategies through active involvement in distribution initiatives across retail and institutional channels as well as in support of existing client relationships. The Senior Product Manager also interacts with senior investment management to provide insight and council to drive business decisions. What are the ongoing responsibilities of a VP, Senior Product Manager? Serve as the primary subject matter expert (SME) of the investment-related aspects of several US equity and hybrid (multi-asset) investment strategies and products to sales, client service, consultant relations, marketing, other business partners and external clients, acting as internal and external proxy for portfolio management representing their investment strategies across a full range of client sophistication levels.  Promote the gathering and retention of assets under management by providing investment philosophy, process, and performance and cross-platform storytelling to various external (potential and existing clients, consultants and third parties) and internal (sales, client service, marketing, and consultant relations) audiences. Effectively answer client servicing questions, articulate investment team views and respond to performance and other investment-related inquiries on assigned investment strategies. Develops strategic direction-setting thought leadership/white paper content for sophisticated client groups. Leads direction for investment related insight used in investment communications including RFPs, DDQs, pre-sale and post-sale marketing collateral and corporate communications.  Demonstrates ownership and prioritization for assigned asset class/investment platform. Formulates product strategy to reposition, extend and innovate the product line including product rationalization, launching new strategies and executing product line extensions. This also includes development of investment guidelines and pricing frameworks. Identify and assess new product and business opportunities (customized separate accounts, sub-advised products and new funds). Support Director in related projects tied to broader platform or corporate initiatives and ad hoc projects.   What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful? At least 10 years product management or other pertinent industry experience, preferably with a focus on investment management, investment consulting or buy-side experience. Experience in equity, fixed income, and convertible bond asset classes; experience with derivative securities and private investments a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess a high energy level and drive to succeed coupled with ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to translate complex portfolio data (such as performance attribution reports) into useable information. Demonstrated knowledge of distribution channels, investment vehicles and pricing structures. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with ability to effectively communicate with senior professionals. Knowledge of markets, products & techniques. Excellent attention to detail. Highly motivated and a self-starter. CFA and/or MBA/graduate degree in finance or economics preferred. FINRA Series 7 (required) Travel Requirements: Limited travel requirements.
