The VP Applications

Engineering & Shared Services will be responsible for all significant

applications used in the JCI enterprise, including engineering, manufacturing,

commercial and customer related applications. 

You will manage the JCI enterprise application portfolio globally while

providing direction and leadership in the management and deployment of global

applications. You will implement and lead enterprise wide application

architecture/portfolio management processes which will focus on evolving JCI’s

business applications to common industry best practices. You will provide

leadership to the IT organization for foundational architecture of core

enterprise systems, promote advances in digital innovation and competitive

advantage for JCI.  You will work

directly with the CIO and Business Executive stakeholders to ensure that the

JCI Application Strategy is fully aligned with the JCI IT Strategy and the JCI

Business Strategy.


How you will do itYou will manage

the day-to-day activities of the IT Business and WEB Application functions,

including budgets, staffing, administration, planning, etc. You will create

and direct global Centers of Excellence (COEs) for JCI’s Global Applications

(PeopleSoft, SAP, Hyperion, EAI, WEB, etc.)You will develop

a long-term application technology strategy on behalf of JCI and communicate to

internal and external stakeholders You will lead

the Global Applications Steering committee to develop application technology

roadmaps for all Business Units.You will lead

all JCI enterprise level low cost country application offshore/onshore and

managed service initiativesYou will lead

cross BU IT leadership team in application technology evaluations.You will partner

and engage with BU leadership to ensure that they can incorporate and exploit

advanced IT solutions into their business strategiesYou will provide

oversight on major business application programs across BUs You will serve

as a talent manager by ensuring that JCI’s global IT applications organization

develops a pipeline of highly skilled leaders capable of executing JCI’s

long-term strategiesYou will manage

key Application Technology IT vendor partnerships in a manner that represents

JCI’s best interests and meets all JCI’s ethical policies and standards.  You will develop

and promote common standards and methodologies in all areas relating to global

IT applications You will lead

Application Benchmarking activities to ensure Total Cost of Ownership alignment

within the JCI Business (BBP for IT)You will manage

the ongoing transition of application resources and responsibilities from the

existing high cost economy locations to the developing low cost economy

locations You will develop

JCI’s IT application resources on a global basis to deliver a consistent

Quality of service in all Bus and in all Regions You will manage

the participation of the IT Global Applications team in the Change Management

processYou will work

with various IT partners (GI, PMO, Security) to ensure collaboration across all

groups to deliver high class service to JCI.

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with an IT

focus. MBA or graduate degree in related discipline with a Business focus

preferred. 15 years in

Sr. IT role with 5 years as VP of Information Technology , Assistant CIO (or

equivalent) for multi-industry (global preferred) company10 years’

experience in business customer-facing or other non-IT role.  Or, previous experience in business process

re-engineering or process improvement, involving broad-based information

systems, utilizing tools and techniques to effect business changeExperience

in change management to more fully leverage technology to drive innovation.Experience

leading multi-disciplinary teams across cultures, regions and geographies and

able to travel 30% to 50% of the time.Experience

managing complex IT partner relationships including offshore resourcesAbility to

think strategically and provide strategic leadershipDemonstrated

experience in leading the transformation of a complex organization’s use and

leverage of technologyDemonstrated

experience working in a highly matrixed organization and partnering to achieve

experience with full life cycle experience in large Global ERP implementationsExperience

with implementing WEB 2.0 and Java/J2EE based applicationsExperience

with a variety of application integration techniques across legacy systems,
