Job Description

IBM is hiring a User Experience Designer for our Hybrid Cloud division. Work location can be New York, NY, Austin, TX, or Chicago, IL. As User Experience Designer you will design and optimize product experiences considering the needs of the product users and to design for their expectations and preferences. You will have the opportunity to design and optimize both web experiences and experiences within the product. You will help to build the best user experience and collaborate in a highly agile environment. Such a position requires a self-motivated and driven individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills. This person will be responsible for delivering best-in-class user experience and aesthetic solutions across various product websites and digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Researching the user’s thought process for how something could or should work through quantitative and qualitative user research (including interviews, usability studies and surveys).

Analyzing the user’s current journey to understand motivation, expose pain-points, issues and opportunities.

Create user experience deliverables including: wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps, user flows, user scenarios and clickable prototypes.

Translate creative ideas to functional specifications and continue through the entire web development process.

Evaluating and testing with end users to measure efficiency and satisfaction.

Fit in the organization

Interfaces with Offering Management and Development to review user research and co-develop action plans to address user needs.

Interfaces with other Design teams to adopt and share design best practices.

Works in collaboration with the digital transformation team to establish best practices that are applied to other offerings in our portfolio

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Experience researching, designing, and testing end-user interactions that resolve complex UX challenges.

Experience in product/web/interaction design.

High-level proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Sketch.

Strong understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Solid knowledge of UI best practices, web interface design and stays current on design trends and technology evolution on the web.

Experience with responsive design.

The ability to develop and/or use tools to create quick proof of concepts to demonstrate user interactions and processes.
