Transportation Manager




Works as a Transport Manager on problems of diverse scope where analysis of transport data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

The development of the transport solution requires a multi-disciplinary approach and knowledge of transport principles, -theories and -concepts.

Formulates the transport solution for (technical) partial problems that cannot be found by combining previous experiences but by composing newly acquired transport knowledge.

May lead multi-disciplinary transport change projects, managing a number of people. Works independently and provides consultative advice within specific functional areas.

Introduces transport methods/procedures that are new for the organisation. Applies advanced transport process principles to multiple tasks.

Proficient in area of specialization and contributes in other disciplines. Determines feasibility of transport concepts or projects. Has basic knowledge of related disciplines.

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Directly affect transportation decisions for all Philips North America Personal Health. You will work cross functionally with internal and external parties to make sound business decisions.

You are responsible for

Budget & strategic planning to drive improvement & cost savings

Anticipate future cost based on business changes in regards to volume, mode, and level of service

Work with internal and external teams on cost improvement projects in relation to transportation spend

Ensure all orders meet the on time and in full requirements for our customers

Monitor 3rd party KPIs and ensure adherence-including OTIF, prime tender acceptance, cost per mile, and cost per pound metrics

Establish relationships with the 3PL to execute a successful Q4 2018 and beyond

You are a part of

A large global team reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations. The role is based in the Columbus, Ohio office where there is a smaller group of onsite Philips associates composed of Production Planning, Engineering, and Operations. Your global organization within Philips consists of 50 associates based across the United States and Europe.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

5 years’ work experience in managing commercial carriers and contracts

Bachelor’s degree in transportation/operations or business related field preferred but associate’s degree with 5 years’ experience also acceptable

Adequate knowledge of the transportation industry trends and market rates including LTL, TL and Air freight

Experience with Freight Audit & Payment and Freight Cost Management experience

Project Management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects successfully

Proven ability to work and communicate cross functionally

Familiarity with business and financial principles and practices

Basic IT skills (databases, MS Office etc.) SAP a plus

Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Warehousing and operations background a plus

Management of 3rd Party Supplier a plus

10% Travel may be required
