Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated outside sales professional to join our US Commercial Organization as a District Sales Manager for Channel Brand Seed located in Eastern Colorado. This position will cover the following counties: Kit Carson, Yuma, Phillips, Sedgwick & Logan.

Our Channel farmer customers are embracing the next evolution in agriculture. They demand high service, the best genetics, and crave the latest technology; both in their corn & soybean seed and in the data & systems they use to make their farming decisions. Channel District Sales Managers, ensure we deliver on those expectations of cutting-edge agriculture, by helping our farmers maximize value in every seed on every acre. You will have to opportunity to work for the newest brand and growth arm of our Seeds & Traits division. Agility, results orientation, innovation, business leadership and collaboration will be keys to success in this role.

As a Channel District Sales Manager you will help meet this high-service expectation by direct selling to growers and by developing a team of dedicated independent dealers we call Seedsmen. They are committed to selling our products and providing exceptional customer service to our Channel customers.

The role of the District Sales Manager is to identify farmer/producer customers that align with Channel’s future vision of agriculture. Then help position our seed products to optimize yield and value to these growers. While developing a growing territory, you will also help to identify, support and manage your team of Seedsman.

This position is a great blend of outside/business-to-business sales, people management and direct work in the field with your farmer customers.

You’ll have the opportunity to sell product for a leader in a growing, evolving, and high demand industry.

Your work week will be a varied mix of working out of your home office and spending time in the field visiting your customers and Seedsmen

What we’ll expect from you:

Provide agronomic support and advice to dealers, growers and prospects

Analyze sales territories to understand the opportunities that are available in order to increase and enhance the Channel business that is consistent with a multi-brand strategy ensuring collaborating with other Monsanto brands

Manage selling activities which includes developing and maintaining  relationships, and servicing farmers either personally or through Channel Seedsman

Recruit, motivate and retain high-quality professional dealers (Channel Seedsman) to build a distribution network based on market opportunity to meet customer and company needs

Maintain  thorough agronomic and technical knowledge of brand products and services 

Trouble shoot any customer complaints and work to resolve them

Call on customers with your Channel dealers and Channel Seedsman 

Serve as a role model, teacher and coach to dealers by demonstrating sales skills and customer responsiveness

Manage dealer performance through the establishment, communication and clarification of sales goals and expectations. Hold dealers accountable for meeting established performance standards. Assess skill gaps in dealers and build long-term training plans or platforms to enhance skill competencies in dealers

Required Skills/Experience:

Bachelors Degree, or equivalent experience in an Agriculture or Business related field is strongly preferred. We will consider other education level with related agriculture experience. 

 2 years sales/account management experience OR 1 years Agriculture industry experience

Experience effectively demonstrating self motivation, initiative, assertiveness, and results orientation

Willingness to travel and live/work in a rural environment

Ability to pass driving record background check (i.e. moving violations, accidents, license suspension, etc.)
