Targa is currently seeking a Terminal Operations Technician for their facility located in Tacoma, WA.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the safe, efficient and error free performance of a variety of operations, maintenance, lab, inventory control and scale house functions.

Operator responsibilities include:

• Operation of the hot oil heater, boiler, loading rack, tank transfers, utility systems, oil/water separator, railcar loading/unloading, marine transfer activities and emergency response.

• Must successfully complete all required initial and refresher operator training.

• Maintenance responsibilities include housekeeping, painting, insulation repair/installation, pump/valve packing, steam trap/tracing repair/replacement, minor pipefitting.

• Inventory control responsibilities include manual gauging of tanks and data accountability. Laboratory responsibilities include product sampling, testing and data input.

• Must provide customer communications and sales accountability as needed.

• Works on assigned shifts to meet operational needs.

• Activities are carried out under the direction of the Superintendent or Shift Supervisor.

Minimum Essential Qualifications

Must be capable of performing multiple activities concurrently and balancing all required activities by prioritizing and most of all by using good judgment and common sense.

Must be competent in terminal operations necessary to support facility activities:

• Load trucks at truck rack

• Stand dock watch for marine transfers

• Must be able to perform duties without close supervision.

• Must be a strong team player

• Must be capable of following all safety, environmental, emergency response and operating procedures / standards.

• Must take ownership of activities, including initiating to identify areas in need of improvement.

• Recommend solutions and implement improvements.

• Must be willing to work well with internal and external customers, ensuring customer satisfaction.

• Must be able to communicate orally and written.

• Must be competent in PC use (word, excel, windows, outlook, and other systems).

• Must be able to perform required maintenance, housekeeping, lab, inventory accounting and truck rack functions in addition to operators’ duties.

• Must successfully complete all required initial and refresher operator training.

• Committed to safety, Strong commitment to environmental rules and regulations.

• Must be dependable with an excellent attendance record. Working overtime, weekends, holidays and different shifts is required.

• Knowledge of marine terminal operations and activities.

• Leadership and team work skills. Team player must be able to work with others and have the ability to work with little or no Supervision

• Must be able to perform light maintenance. Must complete and document compliance tasks as required.

• Good oral and written Skills, good PC skills and good problem solving abilities.

• Customer Focus is a must, have to be able to work with and assist commercial carrier/ drivers, internal and external customers.

• Must work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays required for terminal operations.

• Valid Driver’s license

• Regular and Reliable Attendance

Preferred Qualifications

• City of Tacoma boiler license.

• 24 hour HAZWOPER certified

• CPR/First Aid qualified
