Job Description

What You’ll Get to Do:

Interface with attorneys, management, developers and other technical professionals in the writing, editing, and publication of various types of documents such as specifications, manuals, reports, plans, training material and presentations;

Research a variety of assigned topics and develop writing plans, outlines, and reports;

Assist in the development of supporting materials (illustrations, tables, etc.);

Meet with Division/Office personnel to document success stories and the status of various initiatives;

Track and monitor flow of all documents from inception to distribution of final

copies.

Utilize appropriate computer software for document test production; and creation of documentation.

Identify and correct problem areas as they arise;

Act as an editorial consultant;

Provide quality assurance check for all document deliverables;

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

At least one year of experience in writing a variety of documents including technical manuals, user guides, etc., for both COTS and non-COTS products.

Writing skills as well as standard documentation formatting skills are of paramount importance to this position.

Must be able to state complex ideas or concepts simply and clearly.

Experience in IT field essential.

Experience preparing materials to be used in training, for reporting, or for distribution required.

Requires demonstrated ability to communicate technical subjects to non-technical staff. At least one year experience in automated litigation support strongly preferred.

Hands-on familiarity with the Government's IT environments, including office automation networks, and PC and server based databases and applications, such as Oracle, Concordance, Summation, MS Access, will be expected, as well as other web-based databases, such as Recommind, ICONECT, and Relativity.

Should be an expert user of the Government's word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and telecommunications systems.

Requires excellent written and oral communications skills.

Typically requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and two to four years of related (technical writing and copy editing) experience.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOJ MBI clearance.
