Job Title Technical Program Manager III Job ID(Requisition ID): 3223 Job Summary Technical Program Manager As part of Benchmark’s Design Engineering team lead cross functional engineering teams and act as the primary customer contact for technical programs. They have responsibility for participating in business development, developing requirements, writing technical proposals and leading the team and development activities to meet the program requirements, program budget and overall customer expectations to a successful design transfer or delivery. This Technical Program Manager position is focused on leading teams to design and develop optical and photonic technologies for medical, industrial, and aerospace/defense products and systems. Essential Functions and Competencies Technical Program Managers within Benchmark’s Design Engineering team lead technical development engineering teams and act as the primary customer contact for projects. They have the responsibility for participating in business development, developing technical proposals and then leading the development team and development activities to meet the design requirements, program budget and overall customer expectations to a successful conclusion.\r
Qualifications / Education / Experience Work with Customers to evaluate technology requirements for optical/photonic based products. Generate proposals/statements of work, including project schedule, deliverables, dependencies, resources and cost and communicate them to the customer. Lead cross-disciplinary teams on the development and implementation of optical, fiber optic, opto-electrical, and electrical systems and subsystems. Lead the prototype activity of optical subsystems and participate in planning system integration, alignment, and test activity. Familiarity with optical modeling techniques with tools such as Zemax and familiarity with mechanical modeling with tools such as Solidworks. Familiarity with lasers, LEDs, lenses, multilayer coatings, diffractive optical elements, illumination and imaging optics Working knowledge for a broad range of high speed electronic, electro-optical, and fiber optic components. Working understanding of optics manufacturing Familiarity with qualification testing of optical systems is desirable, including the design of test equipment and automation. Develop knowledge of the customer’s market, product, requirements and strategies to identify new opportunities. Experience interfacing/spec-negotiating with optical suppliers. Knowledge of optical manufacturing processes, test methods, specifications and standards (MIL, ISO) a plus. Experience in design/development of optic based technology preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science, (EE, ME, Applied Physics preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved.
