The role involves leading a team of subject matter experts providing premium tax compliance services to clients of Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services, a global fund administrator, specializing in complex hedge funds and alternative asset investments. The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to function as an effective and strategic leader in a dynamic, fast-paced and demanding environment. This individual will have a strong technical background in tax compliance and experience in team and people management.

This role will report into and be supported by the manager of Tax and Regulatory Services. Lastly, the candidate will be a key part of our hedge fund administration business and will be visible to key client relationships.


Experience in FATCA and CRS tax compliance

Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills

Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and organize workload

Client focused, both internal and external

Experience in people and team management

Adaptive, flexible style; able to work in a challenging, dynamic, fast-paced environment

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and with accuracy

Excellent record keeping and document organization and retention skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Major Duties:



Managing 3-5 partners on the team


Driving the establishment or improvement of documented processes to support the FATCA and CRS offerings


Collaborating with other functional groups to resolve issues related to FATCA and CRS validation


Developing service enhancements or new service opportunities related to tax compliance for HFS client base


Managing business administration of service offerings and ensuring client work performed aligns with client service level agreements


Collaborating with senior management and other shared service teams to integrate cross department initiatives


Managing relationships and workload with HFS teams, vendors, and clients to ensure proper compliance



Staying current on regulations and changes to FATCA and CRS reporting requirements and intergovernmental agreements to ensure compliance


Researching tax issues as well as analyzing tax law


Monitoring existing client base for changes in circumstance


Driving tax form validation remediation issues


Public accounting background

Masters in Tax preferred

Experience with Investment Management and/or Financial Services; Hedge Fund specific a plus

CPA license


Accounting or finance degree

5-7 years of tax industry experience
