We are seeking an experienced tax professional to coordinate tax compliance throughout the income tax life cycle for both the international and domestic areas as it impacts financial statement tax provisions, the consolidated federal income tax return, and IRS examination inquiries.  Responsibilities also include performing tax research, tax analytics, and forecasting of tax projections. This position will also provide opportunities for collaboration within the Tax Division on incorporating automated technology solutions for improved operational outcomes and exposure to Tax Division leadership.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

Interacts with foreign affiliates, providing oversight and analysis in coordinating the U.S. and local country tax provisions and international filing requirements as they relate to the U.S. federal consolidated tax return. 

Participates in the preparation and analysis of domestic insurance and non-insurance corporate federal income tax returns, utilizing automated processes within Corptax software.

Participates in the identification of various international and domestic tax issues, determining the nature and complexity of the issue and scope of assigned projects.

Consults and partners with other finance divisions and business peers to address tax issues and meet organizational objectives.

Stays abreast and educates others of trends and developments within the international arena and insurance industry, from both a tax compliance and accounting perspective.

Delivers professional and timely services to internal and external customers

Supports other tax professional peers. 

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Exposure to or working knowledge of various international provisions of the Internal Revenue Code in general, including Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provisions, foreign source income, foreign tax credits, controlled foreign corporations, foreign branches, federal excise taxes, BEPS reporting, and transfer pricing concepts.

Working knowledge of Sub Chapter C taxation in general. Exposure to insurance taxation is a plus.

Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)   and related pronouncements such as Accounting Standards Codification Topic 740: Income Taxes (ASC 740).  Exposure to Statements of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP) and Statement of Statutory Accounting Principles No. 101 (SSAP 101) is a plus.

Strong analytical skills, using data to inform decision making and strong tax research skills.

Strong computer skills with a focus toward automated solutions and improved operational outcomes. CorpTax software experience is a plus, in addition to Workday general ledger platform experience.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax issues in a simplified manner.

Results oriented with the ability to solve problems and work independently and/or in a team environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.

Project management, organizational and planning skills.  

Education & Experience 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Masters degree of Science in Taxation is a plus.

Certified Public Accountant designation preferred or in progress.
