JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for supervising the operation of the Metal Injection Molding (MIM) machines to make metal injection molded parts.  Accomplishes tasks in a quality way supporting that Ortho is a quality driven corporation.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Supports operations department and oversees first shift in the manufacturing of orthodontic brackets and ancillary components.

Supports the milling of brackets, MIM brackets and Plastic Injection of components.

Insures that the sets up and operation of all machinery and equipment required to manufacture product is done in a timely and efficient manner.

Coordinates production with outside vendors when necessary.

Requires regular, reliable attendance.

Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

• Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures including WorldWide Business Standards.

• Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

• Perform the following duties in a professional way, supporting Ortho Organizers’ Quality Policy. Must understand, follow and comply with regulatory requirements as applicable to various processes.  An understanding of FDA Quality System Regulations (21 CFR 820) and ISO Standards (ISO 13485) is required.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Directly supervises all employees in MIM. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Orders necessary supplies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to communicate at all levels. Must have excellent oral communication skills and PC experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw or interpret graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Production (MIM/Injection-Molding) experience is a plus.
