Supervisor, General Accounting

SUMMARY:

This role is a Critical member of the Americas finance organization. It is responsible for supervising the general accounting team of the USA lead-acid operations; loading the trial balances into Hyperion for consolidation; assuring timely account reconciliations and monitoring the adequacy of all accruals and prepayments. The position requires communication and interaction with senior management of EnerSys and with a range of external advisers. The work involved is related to the overall management and general business operations of the Accounting function.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervising a team of three which is responsible for the monthly closing of the books of EnerSys’ USA lead-acid operations.

Ensure that the Balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a timely basis with no old unresolved items for the EnerSys USA lead-acid operations.

Review journal entries/account reconciliations as required.

Assist in the month end, quarter end and annual reporting requirements for the Americas region in accordance with US GAAP ensuring data is accurately recorded and correctly input in HFM (group consolidation reporting tool). This involves working with corporate staff and operating controllers (for whom English is a second language).

Perform quarterly balance sheet reviews of operating units and monthly balance sheet reviews of consolidated American results, including detailed periodic review of key accounts.

Reporting and analysis of results involving in-depth analysis of actual results versus forecast/budgets ensuring that key operating drivers are understood.

Work on the implementation of the new lease accounting standards for the USA business.

Liaise with Corporate Finance for monthly reporting and ad-hoc inquiries.

Overall coordination and responsibility for the annual audit of a significant part of the region.

Provide information as requested by external tax advisers and EnerSys Tax personnel.

Ensure Sox compliance with accounting process, controls and reconciliations.

Interface with Internal Audit and External audit (EY).

Lead, train and motivate the General Accounting Department.

Adhoc report and information requests.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This individual will be responsible for overseeing the General Accounting Department, currently comprising three employees.

Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 5 years of experience in a corporate financial function with supervisory experience. Public accounting experience preferred.

Knowledge of GAAP/SOX

Strong leadership/training ability

Knowledge of HFM

Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance with 5-10 years of general accounting experience in a manufacturing environment or similar.

Must be able to perform all accounting functions including account reconciliation, and month-end closing procedures.

Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) and BaaN/SAP or another leading ERP system. Exposure to a SAP implementation would be advantageous

Capable of maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
