An exciting opportunity to help drive innovation as a member of CNA's Long Term Care Actuarial team!  Working alongside actuarial staff, the analyst will help perform annual reserve and asset adequacy testing, sensitivity and scenario testing and provide support in monthly reporting and analytics.  A successful candidate will be technically strong, detail-oriented and naturally curious.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Under technical direction, supports calculation of best estimate cash flow and reserves by reviewing, implementing and running assumptions through tailored actuarial projection system.

Analyze trends in financial and historical experience data to help drive recommendations for actuarial assumptions.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to gather insights on trends influencing the assumption setting process, including, but not limited to, Operations, Claims, Pricing, and Finance teams.

Develop process improvements in order to gain efficiencies and execution of automatic controls; creating well organized repeatable and auditable processes.

Prepares or coordinates the preparation of standard reports, as well as, special reports for management.

May assist in special projects and other key initiatives.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Solid knowledge of core functions of an insurance company, general insurance, actuarial and statistical concepts.

Good analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve simple to moderately complex situations and issues. Demonstrate attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.

Ability to work independently, as well in a team, manages time and resources to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Good time management with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage work deliverables effectively.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority based on data analyses and reviews.

Ability to adapt to change and value diverse opinions and ideas.

Ability to comprehend business data and metrics and to further articulate analyses of actuarial data within internal reports.

Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAS, R and other business-related software systems, including processing systems and applications.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent.

Typically a minimum of four years of related work experience, which includes work toward completion of Associates accreditation.
