Strategic Program Manager

The Program Manager provides oversight of essential programs within the Strategic Communications team in the Agency, aligned to one of 4 major divisions (Enterprise, Government, CALMS and CH&S). The Program Manager identifies opportunities for efficiencies in process as well as program enhancements. Ensures overall program success, ensuring all projects stay on task to meet deadlines, and final deliverables are executed flawlessly. Assesses current state of communications, and moves to solutions in line with business objectives and Aetna Marketing's vision and goals.

Fundamental Components:

Accountable for ensuring the success of all projects in the Strategic Communications team Oversight of major production programs within the Agency for business lines that fall in one of 4 major divisions (Enterprise, CH&S, Government, CALMS) Accountable for communication inventory collection and maintenance for assigned business lines Recommends, advises and implements on opportunities for essential program improvements, including streamlining and efficiencies, and storefront solutions Develops trusted advisor relationship with clients and internal teams Understands digital technology and options to educate and steer clients towards digital communications as appropriate. Anticipates problems and sees how a problem and its solution will affect other projects, people or processes; keeps all parties informed of program status. Develops project plans and calendars for yearly production projects, to ensure proactive approach and success on meeting and exceeding all program deadlines. Reviews and updates project plans and calendars to ensure all parties are on track to meet deliverables. Serves as the voice within the Strategic Communications studio for the client and major program enhancements. Ensures that the production creative teams understand client requirements and perspective and that the final output aligns as appropriate. Understand clients products, audiences and business objectives and ensures they are applied to client programs; collaborates with designers and writers to ensure product delivers on client promises. Reviews products for quality, consistency, accuracy, and ensures that consistent image/message is conveyed across the clients products. Attends sales, strategy, status, project kickoff, and other client meetings. Sets expectations with clients, e.g., when and what they will see next as part of the production team process, solution response expectations, and follow-up process and metrics expectations Involves direct supervisor as appropriate and alerts him/her to potential challenges and opportunities for the strategic communications team


Executes essential program management success through accuracy, producing zero errors in work Team player, proactive in all client relations and works across all enterprise departments Bachelor's Degree required, in marketing, communications, advertising or business. 7 years of business knowledge with internal/external agency experience in program/account management.


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
