Strategic Account Manager

Major Duties & Activities Required by the Position:

Successfully sell Orchid’s go to market strategies to engineering and purchasing organizations within the medical device industry.

Prospect for new customers & follow-up on leads

Ask for work

Make sales calls and presentations to potential and existing customers

Develop proposals to gain new business.

Generate quote requests from customers and follow-up internally at Orchid and with customers.

Work closely with each Orchid Division to successfully and expeditiously respond to customer quote requests and other needs.

Work with customers to resolve technical issues.

View manufacturing processes at the customer to identify areas we can help.

Follow-up on opportunities.

Attend and work at industry events and exhibitions to meet with customers and new prospects.

Follow-up on leads regularly.

Develop sales proposals for customers.

Research your territory for new prospects.

Interact with division Orchid staff to generate new leads, discuss opportunities and help close sales.

Complete travel arrangements.

Utilize company resources efficiently and responsibly (money, time, tools, etc.).

Complete expense reports weekly

Participate in regular strategic customer meetings and corporate sales meetings

Participate in training activities which include meetings, team discussions, seminars and corporate training

Complete duties in Salesforce.com weekly which includes but is not limited to: Face to face customer meetings – detailed notes

Ideas

Education:

Minimum 4-year college degree (preferred in biomedical, mechanical engineering or technical equivalent)

Experience:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a role with face to face customer interaction.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in medical device engineering or equivalent technical field

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.

Excellent oral & written communication skills.

Strong organization and planning skills.

Strong computer skills (ability to use Made2Manage, Salesforce.com, Microsoft Office suite of products, especially PowerPoint).

Detail oriented

Desired but not required:

Hands on knowledge of medical device manufacturing

Use of Salesforce.com

Experience with strategic/complex selling methods, e.g. Miller Heiman.

Territory includes customers in western states (CA, OR, UT, TX). Also, you will be responsible for all Medtronic locations in the Americas (Memphis, Warsaw IN, Jacksonville FL, Minneapolis MN, Sunnyvale CA, Humacao PR)

Prefer for this candidate to be based in Los Angeles, CA or Portland, OR area, but we will look at other West Coast locations.

Expectation is that this candidate travel (drive/fly) each week and conduct an average of 4 meetings per week.

Must be highly motivated and a self-starter and able to work without daily supervision.
