Position Description:

Reporting to the Laboratory Program Manager, the Staff Researcher will: • Develop formulations suitable for a variety of structural applications and test resulting experimental materials for various performance attributes. • Identify, evaluate and qualify raw materials for use in various construction applications following appropriate industry and company safety compliance requirements and procedures. • Translate developed bench-scale laboratory formulations to large-scale manufacturing operations. • Protect company intellectual property through proper documentation of work, submission of idea disclosures and drafting of patent applications. • Develop and implement quality control systems that comply with company operating procedures, building codes, industry standards and other requirements. • Document, implement and train production staff on quality control systems and procedures. • Conduct mechanical and durability testing on panelized construction materials and interpret and document results.  ','!*!• MS Degree Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Engineering or related; or BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Engineering with 3 years of experience in building materials, manufacturing or construction. • Experience and comfort in a manufacturing environment. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Fundamental statistical data analysis skills. • Strong interpersonal skills to work within cross-functional teams. • Strong organization skills. • Strong project management skills with demonstrated effectiveness at using standard project management tools. • Strong computers skills with experience in Microsoft Office productivity applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). • Ability to interpret chemical and physical characterization tests to qualify raw and finished products. • Experience and comfort in a manufacturing environment. • Expertise in instrumentation and testing equipment. • Experience with programming, LabView and data acquisition systems a plus.
