Primary Role

This position may be filled as Staff Hydrogeologist (grade 30) or Hydrogeologist (grade 25). Applicants interested in either of these positions/grade levels are encouraged to apply.

Responsible for collecting and processing hydrogeological data, executing preliminary design, and providing technical support during the delivery of moderately complex capital investment projects addressing water and wastewater resource facilities. Serves as technical support in hydrogeology, which is of critical importance to the planning and delivery of water supply and wastewater disposal system assets and Company operations.

Key Accountabilities

Conduct hydrogeological and geochemistry assessments and data analysis for development of new and/or improved groundwater supply and wastewater disposal facilities to meet increasing and/or changing demands and regulatory requirements. This includes supporting well and aquifer testing programs throughout the AW footprint to ensure consistent application of hydrogeologic principles and proven procedures.

Support the preparation of technical, bidding and contractual documents associated with delivery of assigned capital investment projects related to groundwater resources. Deliver scope and quality of work to achieve the intent of all design concepts and Company standards for capacity, performance, reliability, safety and regulatory compliance. Serve as technical support during planning, construction, commissioning and initial operation of assets.

Under the guidance of a Senior Hydrogeologist, develop and/or utilize existing computerized mathematical modeling programs to assess aquifer yields and groundwater flow and transport patterns to ensure safe and adequate water supplies and/or effluent disposal capacities. Support groundwater investigations for new groundwater sources of supply, existing well performance assessment, aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) systems, and discharge to groundwater systems.

Prepare text, tables and figures for hydrogeologic reports and design documents (drawings and specifications) for groundwater supply or effluent disposal facilities.

Participate in special assignments including professional conferences, business development, technology research and other matters of strategic interest to Company.

Knowledge / Skills

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to define problems; collect and analyze data; establish facts; and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to lift and carry loads up to 40 pounds

Ability to work in inclement weather and overnight shifts as needed

Minimum 3 years experience in geology or hydrogeology

(0 - 3 years’ experience in geology or hydrogeology – for the Entry Level Hydrologist - Grade 25)

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) from an accredited four year university or college in geology, soil science, geological engineering, or related field preferred

Master’s degree (MS) from an accredited academic institution in geology, soil science, geological engineering, or related field preferred.

Driver's license in good standing required.

Travel Requirements/Work Environment

Overnight and weekend work as needed to support client’s best interest Intra- & Inter-state travel in Company-provided transport

Licenses & Certifications

Geologist-In-Training certification (GIT) desired, or the ability to obtain within 2 years of hire. In certain instances, however, and in the case of the license not being recognized by the state, the requirement may be waived by management
