The objective of this position is to lead the efficient and effective direction of the corporate energy and conservation programs worldwide. It is responsible for the strategic execution of Johnson & Johnson’s Climate Friendly Energy Policy and achieving its public facing targets and goals. Also directs the purchase of energy and sets strategy to reduce energy consumption and costs globally.
Under the direction of the Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) Enterprise organization, you would be responsible for the environmental, health and safety infrastructure for the Johnson & Johnson Information Technology Service (J&J ITS) facility located in Raritan, NJ. Also responsible for ensuring the local facility EHS&S operations are in compliance with federal, state, and local EHS&S regulations, as well as Johnson & Johnson EHS&S Standards. Additional responsibilities include site environmental, safety and health programs such as: ergonomics, permit-to-work, construction/contractor safety, project reviews, job safety analysis development/review, injury/incident investigation and general occupational safety in an office environment. You will also partner with the site leadership teams to establish and implement an EHS&S strategy and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) in alignment with the J&J Enterprise EHS&S organization.
This leader will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders.
Internal: J&J ITS Data Center and Facility site management, facilities/engineering department, global health & wellness & J&J Enterprise EHS&S organization.
External: Regulators, 3rd party consultants/assessors and contractors.
Provide leadership and support as the key EHS&S resource servicing the J&J ITS facility in Raritan, NJ.
Partner with local management to develop and implement a site Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA) to address EHS&S program deficiencies and ensure EHS&S regulatory compliance.
Monitor the progress of the CAPA, providing leadership, technical support and professional expertise to ensure enterprise and site goals are met; assure all records are properly maintained and reports are prepared/submitted in a timely manner.
Prepare environmental permit applications and negotiate conditions. This individual will understand applicable Federal, State, and local EHS laws and regulations, standards, codes and guidelines and interpret requirements to client groups.
Develop EHS&S objectives for the site - auditing, analyzing, documenting, and reporting on their implementation and effectiveness to management via dashboards & reports.
Monitor and evaluate EHS&S risks of operations, including change management, ensuring continuous improvement of the EHS&S program to make it leaner and more efficient.
Provide site leadership with ongoing consultation pertaining to environmental, health and safety regulations and enterprise EHS&S initiatives, identifying the impacts of these changes on key business objectives.
Develop, implement and deliver EHS&S training strategy for the site, ensuring key risk and regulatory requirements are addressed for appropriate audiences, including new hires
Develop, support and facilitate site EHS&S committees/teams to ensure implementation of the EHS&S program.
Collaboration with the J&J Enterprise EHS&S organization working directly with EHS&S professionals supporting the NJ Campus.
Support the emergency response programs as needed','!*!
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Science, Engineering or other Technical Field with a minimum of 6 years of EHS experience is required.
Experience in managing office safety and contractor safety programs is preferred.
Knowledge of USEPA, NJ Department of Environmental Protection, and OSHA regulations is required
Impacts of operations on the environment – air pollution, ozone depleting substances, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, chemical management, emergency response, SPCC and protection of wetlands and ground/surface water is preferred.
Technical experience in diverse EHS&S areas including but not limited to air, water, tanks, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, office safety, ergonomics, risk assessment and contractor safety is highly desirable.
Demonstrated project management skills are required
Individual must have technical/working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
Classroom instructor skills are required.
Interfacing – associates & local, state & federal inspectors is preferred
Organizational skills – generate all required reports & record keeping systems preferred
Experience is required in identifying, evaluating and controlling EHS&S risks in the workplace.
Ability to quickly interpret complex regulatory issues and provide recommended course of action is required
Experience in leading change to individual and organizational behavior impacting EHS results is preferred
Ability to work successfully independently, technical leadership skills is required
