Staff Accountant - Operations Accounting

POSITION SUMMARY:

Support the Company’s general accounting function and supervise staff performing reconciliations and operational transaction booking, including those related to cash, loans held for sale, and accruals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Mortgage Accounting - Contribute to Mortgage operational processes through booking of loan transactions and cash movements. Monitor key controls to ensure compliance with corporate policy.

Accruals/Reserves Monitoring and Accounting - Play a key role in enhancing general ledger booking of accruals and reserves. Engage business contacts to provide required supporting information/data. Analyze data and impact on financial statements.

Quality Balance Sheet Reconciliations – Perform key account reconciliations and participate in monitoring companywide compliance with this key control.

Operational Transaction Booking - Own general ledger booking of repetitive transactions with efficiency and accuracy.

Variance Analysis - Effectively evaluate business activities impacting financial statements. Document conclusions in a clear and concise manner.

Project Participation - Regular involvement in projects to include system enhancements and process improvements.

Auditor Support - Compile supporting documentation as requested by internal, external, and Sarbanes Oxley auditors.

Requirements

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience:

B.S. in Accounting

At least 2 years of accounting/finance experience

Financial services industry experience a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Detail oriented

Strong written and verbal communications skills

Strong analytical skill

TRAINING / LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

Must pass PHH Corporation’s Background Screening process prior to beginning employment. Additionally, as a condition of employment, you may be required to pass client-specific background check requirements or Federal/State licensing requirements, if applicable.
