The role

Our team at Tesla is looking for a Senior Revenue Accounting Analyst that will be part of a team responsible for the accounting and reporting of global Automotive Revenue, Cash & Accounts Receivable. You will oversee the month-end revenue close and interface extensively with operations and with the external auditors as needed. The ideal candidate will be familiar with GAAP revenue recognition issues and the practical application of technical accounting aspects to field operations of the Company’s automotive revenue streams.

someone who has experience operating in a public company environment with the associated reporting deadlines and requires 'out of the box' thinking to scale business processes by making processes efficient and streamlined.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of revenue accounting systems, processes and best practices along with a thorough knowledge of revenue accounting technical requirements. The candidate must be detail oriented, have strong organization and communication skills and be very hands-on.


Manage revenue recognition for US and international entities. Work closely with management and external auditors to ensure the company is compliant with the latest revenue recognition rules

Responsible for the monthly revenue close, which includes review of transaction processing, account reconciliations and analysis of revenue and deferred revenue

Create policies and procedures to ensure proper accounting treatment, work closely with all other departments to assess proper revenue recognition and accounting treatment

Assist in process improvements to further streamline revenue accounting and business system processes

Prepare management reports including revenue & gross margin metrics and other ad hoc projects as needed

Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies and procedures in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements


Extensive knowledge of US GAAP revenue recognition principles and ability to apply (specifically ASC 605, 606, 840, and 842).

Bachelor's Degree, preferably in finance or accounting

3-5 years public accounting or corporate accounting experience

CPA and SEC experience preferred

Desire to work in an extremely fast paced environment and partner with all levels of the organization

Self-starter and with a proactive approach to problem solving, attention to detail and follow through

Ability to manage multiple competing projects in a time sensitive manner
