This position is responsible for the technical development and improvement of manufacturing systems and processes. This includes work sequence, tool, equipment, and machine specification, design, and implementation. Will also provide production support for technical issues. Works closely with production management and tooling in the continuous improvement of existing manufacturing systems, processes and equipment Responsibilities: * Responsible for the quality of work, reliability, schedule (if appropriate), cost and delegation of tasks on one or more projects and/or Team Members. * Acts as a mentor to other engineering staff and models problem solving skills with a proven ability to develop others. * Actively participate in all systems manufacturing planning, including capital investments, product design issues, resource allocation, plant lay out and quality issues. * Shares responsibility for the effect of technical decisions/judgments on program schedules or goals critical to the organization with other engineers and managers. * Improve product quality and reduce cost throughout analysis of production methods, processes, and optimum utilization of personnel. * Requires little or no supervision. * Responsible for project planning, often acting as a liaison between design engineering, operations, and the technical team. * Provide expertise in machining, welding, material handling, and assembly processes. This may lead a technical team in developing and applying reliable manufacturing engineering methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of manufacturing technical problems. This team member will be required to design and implement new manufacturing methodologies for material handling, machining, welding, paint and assembly. They will also be required to maintain detailed documentation and effectively communicate with the operations, design and technical support teams. Considerations for safety, quality and delivery are required in all manufacturing engineering decisions. The team member should be able to perform within the principles of Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time and Total Quality Management systems/processes. Qualifications: Basic Qualification: * Bachelor Engineering Degree (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering) * 3-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment Preferred Qualification: * Exceptional Project Management skill set and experience * Ability to coach and develop others * Flexibility to work overtime as needed * Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at one time * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to teach others * Familiarity with computers, including MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and E-mail. * Understanding of Toyota Production System/Lean Manufacturing concepts and goals. * Welding, machining, fabrication skills and experience is a strong plus. Working Conditions: * Typically works in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment. * Ability to move equipment and/or materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
