JOB DESCRIPTION:

Evaluate global logistics and distribution and transportation operations,data,and facilities in order to decide the most effective logistics and transportation patterns for products,makes formal recommendation to implement improvements.

Evaluates and implements results from complex distribution analyses.

Identify projects,perform data research,review and analyze findings,make recommendations,present findings,implement approved recommendation.

Identify and manage cost or cycle time reduction projects,perform data research,review and analyze findings,make recommendations,present findings,write final report,implement recommendation.

Develop and implement improvements based on technological advances,changes in economic circumstances and sound business strategy.

Develop long range plans to ensure that the distribution of product to our customers is both timely,economical. and with product quality in mind.

Develop computer and analytical systems to reduce time and cost of obtaining information for distribution and transportation decision making.

Analyze a distribution situation in terms of elemental and total costs for each operation,identify alternatives & costs,define the costs and savings of the best solution.

Derive basic cost data using computers and mathematical models.,Influences personnel in other organizations to maintain smooth and efficient worldwide distribution operations.

Help train and develop other members of department.

Negotiates transfer rates and transportation rates with outside vendors.

Communicates issues relating to distribution and transportation to Abbott international affiliates.

Maintains smooth relationships with counterparts in other areas of the world.

Maintains professional interface with management of all disciplines and external vendors and suppliers.

Acts as a focal point for analysis,communications and presentations.

Plans Activity Structure and Relationships: Makes,or provides input to,plans to accomplish assigned activities to specification (cost,quality,time),sets time lines to accomplish goals.

Accomplishes Goals Makes plans to accomplish assigned activities and projects,establishes priorities so as to handle competing demands,optimizes use of available resources,estimates time and resources necessary to complete tasks or projects.

Manages Projects: Identifies project resource requirements,establishes milestones and success factors,monitors progress and adjusts plans to ensure that deadlines are met and results achieved.

Interprets Results/Recommends Options: Uses personal computers and mainframe applications to break down and interpret large amounts of data,draws conclusions and recommends options to achieve objectives,identifies problems or issues and recommends actions to address them.

Interprets Data and Information: Uses a personal computer to collect,analyze,and transmit financial and other technical data and information,forecasts future trends,and assess the impact of proposed decisions and actions on other areas of the organization.

Performs freight audit or review of freight bill exceptions that are kicked out from our 3rd party freight audit company and ensures that our logistics providers are paid in accordance with mutually agreed upon terms identified in the SOP,Statement of Work,or contract.

Uses KPI's to measure internal performance and logistics providers performance.

Has QBR's with all logistics providers and executes robust SOP's,and monthly reporting with logistics providers.

Export/Import knowledge is necessary whether from internal or external training.

Acts on Analysis: Recognizes need for analysis,determines approach and methodology,performs complex analysis considering multiple factors,and proceeds to develop proposals .

Implements Activities: executes and revises plans as needed to accomplish assigned individual tasks to meet expectations (cost,performance,quality,time). Implements Plan,implements changes or improvements and incorporates into the routine operations of the organization,ensures that there are no loose ends,reviews open issues to improve long term success,(higher levels reviews OP's change requests,etc.) incorporates into the day to day operations of the area.

Gathers Financial Data: Identifies,gathers,financial information to assist in decision making,recognizees the type of information relevant to the issues under study and identifies sources.

Utilizes Financial Information: Makes day-to-day decisions which demonstrate a basic understanding of the financial business drivers (e.g.,ROI,factory costs) and their inter-relationships.

Identifies Cost Reductions: Utilizes financial and other information to identify cost reduction opportunities and to implement and manage cost reduction projects.

Adapts Information to Customer Needs: Adjusts communication style and medium (oral,written,electronic or formal presentation) to meet the needs of the receiver (peers,customers,vendors,managers),delivers only important information,uses appropriate level of language and detail for the receiver.

Provides Information: Shares information with appropriate frequency and timeliness so as to benefit the receiver,distributes background information prior to meetings,allows for adequate response time when making requests,keeps parties potentially affected by decisions apprised of events.

Makes Decisions: Makes timely decisions with the best available information.

Accountability/Scope

Identify opportunities to improve service and reduce the cost of delivering product to customers.

Accountable to management for decisions regarding key assigned responsibilities,such as ocean shipping program,Operates with minimal supervision,reviews are held with manager to monitor progress against plans,goals and objectives.

Utilize management to review project goals,training,and for review of all results/ recommendations of projects prior to publication to Abbott personnel.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree Required: BA or BS in Supply Chain Management preferred. 3-5 years experience in Supply Chain or logistics functions is preferred. 3-5 years in Supply Chain or Logistics. Experience may include manufacturing or distribution environment; experience with financial modeling and analysis; knowledge of materials and inventory computer systems; thorough understanding of Abbott planning / inventory management or distribution systems; demonstrated project leadership; transportation supplier experience; exposure to international affiliate operations and their needs and regulations.
