POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for the concept, design and production of high-quality creative deliverables, and works with the Branding & Communications team to provide senior-level design insights, design best practices and creative inspiration. This individual helps drive development of creative assets and deliverables that serve to enhance the UNFI brand image. As part of a larger Branding & Communications team, this individual works both autonomously and collaboratively to deliver on a variety of design projects that align with corporate brand standards and strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Designs for a variety of creative projects including ads, presentations, logos, brand identity, events, and other print and digital collateral. Takes projects from concept through final file production and delivery using standard industry computer graphics software.

Develops creative assets that align with both brand strategy and client objectives through strategic thinking, research, and direction from senior B&C staff.

Adapts, extends and expands on existing design materials while adhering to established brand standards.

Collaborates with the Branding & Communications team, other internal departments, and external vendors on project development.

Supports department leadership with creative direction of brand assets. Directs work of internal and/or external designers/photographers/illustrators.

Manages workload and coordinates with clients to allow for completion of projects within established schedules and budgets.

Acts as steward for the UNFI family of brands. Partners on tools creation (ex. style guides and templates), ensures brand consistency and compliance by internal associates and external partners.

Presents creative ideas to clients / manages and acts as an influencer in the decision-making process.

Participates in and/or leads brainstorm sessions and team projects.

Works with the Creative Operations Manager to define and improve processes, recommending internal or external resources.

Performs other job duties as required.

Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent

Experience

Minimum 7 years branding-related graphic design experience, ideally in an in-house or agency setting

System Implementation Preferred

Knowledge:

Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)

Strong understanding of branding and ability to develop, evolve, and follow brand standards

High level of creative and technical skills necessary to create effective designs and layouts for visual communications across a wide variety of media

Understanding of print processes and ability to build production-ready files

Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience building templates in Word and PowerPoint preferred

Experience in influencing and working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to keep projects on schedule and budget

Skills/Abilities:

Comfort working independently, managing multiple projects and deadlines, and reprioritizing tasks

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong presentation skills

Ability to offer constructive creative guidance to cross-functional partners

Ability to follow direction and respond well to constructive criticism

Pro-active problem-solving, research, asking relevant questions if more information is needed
