About Transmission and

Distribution

Southern

California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution (T&D)

Organizational Unit is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing,

operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout

the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion

in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents

via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position overview

The Sr. GIS Specialist

will be part of the Geospatial Analysis Data Integrity group within

Transmission & Distribution Organization Unit (OU).The successful

candidate will perform a wide variety of project management tasks associated

with data integrity:Scope

candidate will perform a wide variety of data integrity tasks associated with:Work

order intake, processing, and analysis.Data

capturing, both geospatial and attribute based.Data

validations and comparisons across multiple databases.Training,

including in person and online, and developing and maintaining documentation.Interfacing with

internal and external clients to assess:Process

flow standards and improvements; while creating and maintaining workloads to

support clients.Data

integrity and improvements; while creating and maintaining validations to

support clients.Training

standards and improvements; while creating and maintaining training materials

to support clients.

 

Responsibilities may

include

Responsible for

supporting the management, development, and implementation of applications

supporting data integrity.Responsible for

supporting the management, development, and implementation of tools supporting

tracking and reporting for data integrity.Identifies financial or

operational impact to business unit or Company on daily activities that have

moderate to significant business unit wide impact. Ensures scheduled activities

are completed on schedule and within budget.Responsible for

performing routine and repetitive analysis and develops recommendations which

address customer and / or Company problems / issues that require intermediate

to advanced technical knowledge to resolve.Interacting with peers,

management and other internal departments to ensure timely and accurate information

is communicated to respective groups to ensure data integrity.Utilizing various

reference tools and materials to accurately maintain data integrity for SCE’s

electrical assets.Maintaining a safety

conscious work environment by following SCE’s safety protocols and safe work

practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

 

','!*!Minimum qualifications

Experience reading and

interpreting any of the following source materials: work order maps,

engineering / construction drawings, engineering / field notes, single line

diagrams, section view details, civil drawings, land descriptions, survey

drawings, or other mapping reference materials.Experience working with

Mapping Applications such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map3D or Microstation, Experience working with

databases across enterprise to support geospatial and attribute data integrity.Three years of

experience or more conducting research, complex analysis, consulting, and

providing recommendations for data across multiple sources to ensure data

integrity.

Desired qualifications  

Experience using

business applications to create and edit complex reports, graphs, and

presentations.Experience converting

data from one format to another, generating ad hoc reports from business

applications / databases.Demonstrated working

knowledge and / or experience with electrical theory.Demonstrated effective

resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery and team

building.Demonstrated the

ability to utilize new relevant technology and innovation to improve work

performance.Experience in

Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science with an emphasis in GIS, or

other specialized field or an equivalent combination of education, training and

experience.Experience in

Geodatabase Design, cartographic standards and usage of peripherals such as

plotters, digitizers, and scanners.Experience with

enterprise level geodatabase development and management. Experience with

relational databases such as Oracle and ArcSDE.Experience managing and

completing multiple projects or assignments; including planning, organization,

tracking / monitoring, and coordinating projects or assignments to ensure

timely completion.Experience coordinating

Process Flow Improvements, including identification, proposition and

implementation of improvements.Working-place

experience with Excel and Access
