Sr. Financial Analyst

Primary Purpose:

Supports the Sempra LNG & Midstream Finance team. Within the Finance team, the SFA will play a key role in the economic analysis of current and potential investment opportunities in LNG and gas midstream assets, including in-depth financial modeling at the individual asset level and the analysis of economic impact for Sempra on a proposed investment.

Responsibilities/ Duties:

• Build sophisticated financial models and perform financial analysis of LNG and/or gas midstream assets. Review integrity of internally developed financial models as well as those from third parties. Prepare related presentation materials and reports required to brief senior management at the business unit and/or corporate level.

• Assist in ad-hoc analyses, including sensitivity and scenario analysis of major operational, commercial and financing inputs. Support the development and validation of assumptions.

• Performs complex economic research, special projects and studies that require an intermediate to advanced level of knowledge of LNG markets and/or natural gas markets. Requires some self-learning of the industry and regulatory environment.

• Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications:

Education/ Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business administration field. Master's Degree or other professional certificates/advanced degree preferred.

• Minimum 5 years experience as financial analyst. Energy industry experience preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

• Expert knowledge of financial modeling in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with modeling the economics of development and acquisition of energy infrastructure assets

• Demonstrated knowledge of corporate finance, capital budgeting and business valuation

• Fundamental understanding of GAAP, taxation, and economics concepts

• Ability to quickly grasp complex commercial and business structure concepts and incorporate them into required analysis in a simplified but accurate manner

• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with experience in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word

• Ability to quickly familiarize oneself with industry fundamentals, multitask and respond quickly to change

• Ability to work under pressure and act with a sense of urgency

• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization including senior management in a professional and team-building manner
