Part of the Global Consumer Engagement team within AV, our team builds product and technology solutions that drive activation and engagement of Prime Video customers across all our supported devices and growing global footprint. We obsess over finding effective, programmatic and scalable ways to reach customers via a broad portfolio of both in-app and out-of-app experiences, including push notifications, email, automatic ad placements, as well as a dedicated video-roll advertising channel. We increase our effectiveness by investing in leading edge personalization techniques that learn about our customers' needs and match them with timely, relevant and personalized content recommendations. We seek a visionary Data Scientist to partner with Product and Engineering in defining our ML roadmap, owning the datasets, algorithm development and model refinement. You will leverage heterogeneous data sources and Amazon\u2019s large-scale computing resources to build models describing video content; and work with domain and ontology experts and engineers to help turn those models into production solutions. You will participate in the Prime Video ML community and mentor Applied Scientists and software development engineers with a strong interest in and knowledge of ML. Your work will be the basis for helping customers engage with all the great content available on Amazon Video, and ultimately increase brand loyalty. We are looking for someone who is highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, and a team player who has the maturity and ability to both lead and work independently. This person will also have a consistent track record of taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.
Basic Qualifications

BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics or a related quantitative field
5 years of hands-on experience in predictive modeling and analysis
Strong algorithm development experience
Skills with Java, C , or other programming language, as well as with R, Python or similar scripting language
A passion for digital video/media.

Preferred QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have an MS/PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field, and 7 years of relevant work experience, including:

Extensive experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.
Expertise on a broad set of ML approaches and techniques, ranging from Artificial Neural Networks to Bayesian Non-Parametric methods.
Strong Experience in Structured Prediction and Dimensionality Reduction.
Expert in more than one more major programming languages (C , Java, or similar) and at least one scripting language (Perl, Python, or similar).
Proven track record of production achievements in language, search and personalization.
Strong fundamentals in problem solving, algorithm design and complexity analysis.
Strong personal interest in learning, researching, and creating new technologies with high commercial impact.
Experience with defining organizational research and development practices in an industry setting.
Strong communication and data presentation skills
MBA or similar commercial experience/orientation.
Experience with digital advertising/monetization.
