Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and

Distribution Organization (T&D) is responsible for planning, engineering,

constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution

facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward

of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity

to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts

Position Overview:

The Transmission & Distribution (T&D)

organization processes and utilizes a vast amount of raw data. The Technical

Specialists in the Analytics Departments within the Maintenance, Performance,

and Reliability (MPR) organization examine this raw data for the purpose of

drawing conclusions about that information. 

They help organizations throughout T&D discover the underlying

drivers of performance using descriptive statistics, and develop predictive and

prescriptive models to drive significant transformation of business processes

leading to first quartile performance in safety, reliability, and

affordability. They sort through vast data

sets using sophisticated software and identify undiscovered

patterns and hidden relationships between structured and unstructured data such

as asset, geospatial, and operational data.


This experience will continue to build

skill sets within MPR to meet our objective to become a World Class Analytics

Organization as well as helping T&D organizations become more knowledgable

in applying data driven statistical models. 

This position will have a significant role in the development GRC

testimony, regulatory compliance filings, and operational performance metrics

across multiple disciplines. As a subject matter expert (SME) on SCE data

sources, extraction methods and data interpretation they will lead and/or

participate on multiple critical initiatives. Their analysis will lead to

changes in established business strategies and the implementation of new

technologies.Typical Responsibilities:

Research & Analysis: Responsible for T&D's analytics, data interpretation,

data extraction and modeling. Responsible for devising new, innovative models

for determining metrics. Responsible for providing, analyzing and interpreting

data in support of GRC testimony.  Acts

as a subject matter expert (SME) to analysts about data sources, extraction

methods and data interpretation. Provides analysis for AOR in support of

on-going company operations or in response to changing business strategies. Responsible

for development, improvement and execution of processes that support T&D in

the execution of performance and metrics. Performs analysis, testing, and/or

measurement in a specialized area of expertise.

Implementation: Provide analysis and strategic recommendations for T&D

strategy.  Ensure compliance with

Transmission and Distribution Operation & Maintenance standards, ISO, WECC

and CPUC programs.  Responsible for the

development of strategy initiatives with T&D.  Responsible for devising new innovative

models for determining metrics and strategy effectiveness.

Consulting: Performs

in-depth analysis, develops recommendations, and may provide consulting for

cross-orgs and require technical knowledge to resolve. Leads a team or

participates as a team member during implementation of specialized technical

projects. Provides consultative services on an as-needed basis to department

and division management, customers and clients on specialized technical issues

Presentations/Training: Develops, and assists or makes presentation to corporate

officers, department and division management on initiatives supporting T&D


Leadership: Evaluates and negotiates scope, resource allocation and

timelines with department, division and region management in support of

departmental and/or company operations.




Degree in a STEM or related disciplineThis position requires experience in academics with the

teaching of advanced analytical statistical models and appropriate

applications.  Four or more years of experience in the field of analytics.





or in progress Master’s Degree in statistics, Data Science, or equivalent, or

completed/ in progress professional certification in Six Sigma or

Predictive/Advanced Analytics.  Experience

working with ERP (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft), Electric Utility Operations (OMS,

SCADA, DMS, AMI) and/or Geospatial (ESRI, Smallworld, QGIS) data, and

analytical tools such as SAS, Minitab, R, or Python preferred.
