Job Summary:
 
Stays current with vendor-specific technical certifications in order to make appropriate recommendations to resellers on the configuration and design of system solutions. Promotes product awareness, provides pre-sales technical support including phone support, system diagrams, proposals, and training in order to grow the sales of a funding vendor's product line. Works closely with Tech Data's Product Manager and the funding vendor's representatives to execute marketing activities. Establishes and develops solid business relationships with vendors, Tech Data customers and other internal Tech Data departments. Identifies opportunities to improve the quality of Systems Engineering engagement with inside and outside customers. Accepts ownership of suggested improvements and works with the Tech Data team, vendor, and Systems Engineering Management to develop an implementation plan.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required
What you\u2019ll do:   Stays current with vendor-specific technical certifications in order to make appropriate recommendations to resellers on the configuration and design of system solutions. Promotes product awareness, provides pre-sales technical support including phone support, system diagrams, proposals, and training in order to grow the sales of a funding vendor product line. Works closely with Tech Data Product Manager and the Vendor Representatives to execute marketing activities. Establishes and develops solid business relationships with vendors, Tech Data customers and internal Tech Data departments.
 
Technical expertise:

Provides technical solutions and configuration design expertise to customers and sales on specified product lines.
Provides technical and non-technical input to team members, project leaders, and management, as appropriate.
Reports on key metrics as designated by product line(s) of responsibility and distribute monthly update to SE Manager, Product Marketing Team, and vendor representative(s
Updates Tech Data systems and tools with accurate technical data on specific product line(s).
Uses relevant computer system applications (which may include spreadsheets, word processors, databases, etc) at an intermediate level.
Creates and conducts formal presentations.

Business Development:

Use independent judgment and discretion in making solution recommendations.
Develop and obtain approval on Quarterly Vendor Objectives (QVO) document which states goals and objectives to support vendor marketing strategy to grow sales.
Develop tactical plan and performs associated duties necessary to support QVO.
Possess strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.

Relationship Management:

Provide courteous, timely service when addressing customer questions and concerns. Knowledge and/or expertise in related area of responsibility.
Express ideas clearly and convey necessary information.
Build solid, effective working relationships with others and foster two-way communication.
Possess strong leadership skills with a willingness to lead, create new ideas, and be assertive.
Provide phone support in accordance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Log customer calls and places orders for customers in accordance with Tech Data's pricing guidelines.

Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Solutions Engineer:
 
Accepts ownership of suggested improvements and works with the Tech Data team, vendor, and Systems Engineering Management to develop an implementation plan.Participates in departmental projects in leadership/ownership role.
 
Experience & Certifications Required:

Minimum of (4) years technical support experience with PC's, high-end servers, local area networks, and associated components with at least (2) years in phone support environment.
Minimum of (1) year vendor relations experience in a presales vendor support role.
Minimum of (1) year experience in formal product presentations and/or technical sales training experience to small and medium audiences
Minimum of (1) year experience in project management and/or  previous  trade show experience
Knowledge of the interoperability of various PC components, software, peripherals, networking, desktop platforms, applications, standalone and network operating systems, with strong technical abilities in at least (2) of these areas
Minimum of one current major certification recognized by the Systems Engineering Department (currency must be maintained), with a strong commitment to continued development of technical skills as evidenced by additional certifications or demonstrated expertise on a relevant technology or product line.
A Vendor- specific certification is preferred (ex: Cisco vendor requirement: CCNA or CCDA)

Preferred Education: Bachelor\u2019s degree
