Job Description

We are seeking a Software Solutions Architect to join the RBIS (Retail Branding and Information Solutions) team at our Miamisburg, OH location.  Reporting to the VP of Engineering for the Printer Solutions business, this role will be accountable for defining and executing the strategy for system solutions architectural design, development, and deployment of the PSD's product portfolio.  This includes establishing solutions based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration within existing applications, systems, or platforms.  Also, close alignment with corporate IT will be required to establish a long-term System Solutions roadmap as it relates to integration of PSD products into customer environments. This could include, but not limited to, cloud-based, web-based, 3rd party software integration and device based applications.

Successful candidate will be current on industry trends & emerging technologies for the system architecture.  Must collaborate with diverse business units to collect requirements,  manage external 3rd party development programs and engage internal software/firmware technical staff to complete projects on time and within budget.  Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.  This position requires supervision of a small number of direct reports but may expand with the implementation of these key global software, Internet of Things (Iot), web-service and solution-suite initiatives.     

Main Responsibilities:

Create and implement a cohesive strategy for all system solutions architectural design, development, and deployment of the PSD's product portfolio.

Develop comprehensive software solutions based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration within existing applications, systems, or platforms.

Collaborate directly with corporate IT to establish a long-term  System Solutions roadmap that as it relates to integration of PSD products into customer environments. This could include, but not limited to, cloud-based, web-based, 3rd party software integration and device based applications.

Research, recommend and deploy effective security protocols, applications and strategies to ensure integrity of PSD product solutions.

Work with stakeholders, including business, product, and UX team members to influence the application architecture and design.

Must stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Must stay current with mobile operating systems such as iOS and Android.

Assist Product Development teams in areas of network protocols, security, etc.

Ensure internal software meets requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, etc.

Ensure newly developed mobile apps are architected to enhance stability, performance, maintainability and extensibility.

Oversee and manage numerous external activities through 3rd Party consultants, industry experts and application partners.

Research, identify, select, and test technology products required for solution delivery.

Establish, implement, and document the technology integration or migration strategies.

Collaborate on all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards.

Communicate effectively all concepts and guidelines to development team.

Influence progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design.

Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers.

Direct supervision of small team of Software Engineers, Security Analysts, etc. with strong alignment to corporate IT organization.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

10 years experience in Software Development with proven successful management, project management, and consulting experience preferably in an engineering environment on a large or global scope.   Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus.

Knowledge of Embedded Firmware development using RTOS, Linux and Android is a must.

Knowledge of  mobile development (iOS and/or Android), with an understanding of the iOS and Android ecosystems.

5 years of modern front-end development experience.  Familiar with current technologies and trends.

High level understanding of various programming languages (C/C , C#, .NET, Java, etc)

Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture.

Understanding of network OSI model and network protocols such as TCP, UDP, DHCP, etc.

Excellent knowledge of UML and other modeling methods.

Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript and UI/UX design.

IoT experience preferred.

Experience with a systems development life cycle model (e.g. systems analysis, requirements gathering).

Experience negotiating with, and coordinating the output of, geographically and culturally diverse development teams.

Experience in event based controls systems.

Experience architecting reusable frameworks for equipment control.

Understanding of software quality assurance principles.

High quality organizational and leadership skills.

Outstanding communication and presentation abilities.

Education:

Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.  

Master’s degree preferred.
