The Console is their introduction to AWS, and for many, their primary interface to accomplish a wide variety of tasks. Improving this experience, while innovating at an unmatched pace, requires rapid experimentation, along with a good understanding of user behavior and feedback. The AWS Console team is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the Analytics Platform. The mission of this team is to enable the Console experience development teams to learn and experiment, by providing a self-service platform to run experiments, as well as collect user behavior data and feedback. As the leader of this team, you will drive the vision and direction of this platform. At Amazon, we hire hands-on managers at all levels. This leader must be able to dive deep into the details on business, operations and engineering. We need technical, detail-oriented leaders who can build and grow organizations. You\u2019ll need to excel at hiring and developing a team of strong software development engineers. Our services operate at large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. You\u2019ll also need to be willing to share big ideas and execute to deliver the next big innovations at rapid pace. In AWS, we\u2019re growing rapidly and we need leaders that are able to grow and scale their organizations at a rapid pace. You\u2019ll also need strong judgment. In AWS, our leaders have a lot of ownership and autonomy, so they need to be right a lot. You will have to be obsessed with delivering the most customer-centric experience on the planet, for our customers. Finally, you\u2019ll need to be able to invent and simplify, which is what we do every day at Amazon. In AWS, we\u2019re reinventing the way teams work, and along with that, reinventing the foundation of cloud computing. We need leaders that are able to look at problems in new ways, inventing simple solutions to complex problems.
Basic Qualifications

10 years software development experience with large-scale Internet-facing systems
5 years of experience in building, managing and growing high performance software engineering teams
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience with object-oriented design and programming in languages such as Java, C, C
Experience driving operational excellence and engineering best practices for large scale distributed systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences

Preferred Qualifications

Strong and creative problem-solving abilities
Demonstrated ability to take a project or significant feature from concept to launch
Experience in databases, analytics, big data systems or business intelligence products
Experience with agile methodologies, and full life-cycle software engineering practices including CI/CD
Post-graduate degree in Computer Science or related field
