Essential Functions

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Shipping Lead Person is a working leader who helps ensure the shipping responsibilities and deadlines are all met daily. Processing paperwork, prepping materials for shipments, communications, training, monitoring and tracking are key parts of their responsibility. They must be a self starter with high levels of integrity and attention to detail, working both in the office and on the production floor at times to help out. They must be capable of making team members aware of improper work procedures they may be practicing. Some of the expectations of a Lead Person are as follow:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Shipping Paperwork

The Shipping Lead will assist in all aspects of processing documents and other needed activities to ensure deadlines for shipments and record retention are met daily.

Training

The Lead Person must assure that employees on their shift are qualified to perform jobs in the Value Stream. The Lead Person can accomplish through other team members or by providing the training themselves. (To be qualified as a trainer a team member must also be qualified in the job they are training the individual for.)

Development

The Lead Person should work with the Value Stream Manager, Value Stream Team Leader and team members to help team member’s cross-train and qualify for needed positions in the Value Stream.

Standardized Work

Assist the Value Stream Team Leader or Value Stream Manager and team members to develop and practice standardized work. Once established, the Lead Person assists the Value Stream Team Leader or the Value Stream Manager in monitoring compliance to the established practices.

5S Safety

Works with the team members to establish a clean, organized and safe value stream. Assists the Value Stream Team Leader or the Value Stream Manager in monitoring associates compliance to established practices.

Communication

§ From shift to shift

Process Tracking

Assure that all measurements are properly recorded and tracked. Utilize measurements to meet production goals.

Quality Checks

Perform daily quality checks. Assure all team members are performing and documenting checks

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education required: High School diploma or GED

Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of:

Hose Manufacturing

Standard Work

Equipment Operation and Set-Up

HPT’s and Lean Manufacturing

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: 1. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Basic knowledge and use of hand tools

Sound decision making skills

Good math, reading, writing skills

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

Strong trouble shooting skills

Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention

Ability to work well in a team environment

Skills/Competencies: 1. Basic computer skills

Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks.

Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail.

Physical Requirements: Ability to:

lift 10 pounds, lift 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds rarely.
