Description

The Lean Supply Chain / Procurement Engineer position with Diebold Nixdorf is a project-based position focused on the deployment of lean within our supply base as well as supporting technology integration and supplier innovation activities of both domestic and international suppliers.

Primarily, this position will facilitate reduction of Diebold Nixdorf operating cost through analysis of category spend, supplier manufacturing operations, Supplier supply chain (all levels) and supplier margin.

Secondarily, this position will promote early supplier involvement and co-development in new product introduction; proactively seek new technologies and offer these technologies as solutions where appropriate; and participate to qualify and develop suppliers in accordance with the

global sourcing strategy

Independently performs all assignments with minimal instruction.

Collaborates with Sourcing/Category Managers and Cluster Leaders.

Leads cross-functional, global, internal (Diebold Nixdorf) and external (supplier) teams

Primary interfaces with the following organizations:

Global Category Managers and Cluster Leaders

Project Management Office – Direct Procurement

Project Procurement – New Product Introductions

Supply Chain, all domestic and international locations

Scope of work includes

Support of a specific set of commodity categories

All geographical areas of the world

Any necessary associated travel

Any necessary support of global meetings (outside of normal business hours)

All spend items in the categories supported

Consult in design, sourcing, and cost reduction aspects of assigned activities with the organizations listed above.

Represent Procurement on technical matters involving other organizations.

Achieve annual goals through (but not limited to) the following:

Supplier Onsite Lean Workshops

Supplier Cost Audits

Facilitation of Supplier Tech Changes

Diebold Nixdorf and competitor Product Teardowns

Estimation through continually improving cost modeling techniques

Secondarily

Participate in the development and maintenance of supplier certification, supplier development and supplier evaluation programs.

Research potential sources of supply for purchased products to ensure prices are globally competitive and sufficient production capacity is available within the supply chain.

Research potential new technologies.

Acts as a liaison between suppliers and the Diebold engineering community.

Develop and implement strategies to improve supplier productivity and quality, and ensure supply chain continuity.

Mentor and coach group associates in the planning, designing, and implementation of lean projects.

Facilitate workout sessions, value stream mapping sessions and activities to achieve project objectives

Engage and support Best Practices with project managers to ensure critical deployment dates are met

Coach business team members in the practical application of the Six Sigma tools

Identify opportunities to Lean and simplify processes for sustained productivity gains and customer impact which drive each solution to completion

Effectively work with teams that involve cross-functional members

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering is a plus.

Minimum seven years professional experience in procurement, engineering, supply chain or quality management, with hands on lean experience in a manufacturing facility.

With Mechanical Engineering degree, 3 years knowledge of and experience with 3D mechanical computer aided design tools such as Pro/Engineer or Siemens NX

With Electrical Engineering degree, 3 years knowledge of and experience with electrical computer aided design tools such as Mentor Graphics

Knowledge of and application of ASMEY14.5-1994 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.

Training and certification through a Six Sigma accredited organization

Six Sigma and Project Management certifications are a plus

Knowledge of component design and cost drivers for assigned categories.

Experience with process trouble shooting and root cause and Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA).

Experience with Design for Six Sigma/Design of experiments (DOE)

Proven track record of meeting and exceeding assigned goals and objectives

Ability to perform in a team environment

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Proficient in the use of personal computers with the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel

Project Management Certification (PMP) or project management training preferred

Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

Work attitude that exhibits drive, assertiveness, judgment, decision making, dependability and ambitions

Strong facilitation and presentation skills, all levels of the organization

Experience building, empowering, and leading cross functional teams

Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
