About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FENOC a subsidy of First Energy Corporation. [DBN]

This Mechanical Support Engineer serves as the Vibration/Lubrication Monitoring Program Owner at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station and is responsible for all aspects of the station’s vibration monitoring predictive maintenance program.

Responsibilities at the Senior & Staff Nuclear Engineering Specialist levels include:

Establishing an annual budget for maintaining rotating equipment and creating task authorizations for specified tasks.

Reviewing engineering changes, parts equivalencies, etc. for impact on the vibration/lubrication monitoring program and ensuring that changes are processed to support equipment operation.

Initiating and resolving condition reports concerning vibration/lubrication and rotating equipment issues, and providing input to shift Operations personnel.

Maintaining vibration/lubrication related information in the plant’s predictive maintenance database, PlantIQ.

Qualifying as the backup Infrared Program Owner, including completing the required qualification card and attending training seminars required to achieve industry certification.

Completing the site qualification card for Vibration/Lubrication Monitoring Program Owner.

Attending and completing various industry training seminars in order to achieve required certification to vibration/lubrication industry standards.

Completing the basic Engineering Support Qualification, if not already completed.

Maintaining procedures and evaluating condition reports in support of rotating equipment maintenance, including those related to both vibration analysis and general mechanical maintenance.

Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline preferred.

Minimum of 5 years professional-level power plant experience, including a minimum of 2 years experience related to mechanical maintenance in a nuclear power plant, is required.

Must possess a working knowledge of power plant systems, structures and components.

Knowledge of and prior experience with rotating machinery preferred.

Effective written and oral communication skills.

Should possess proficient technical writing abilities.

Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Ability to work shift schedules, temporary schedules or extended hours, as necessary.

Must reside within site-specific ERO response time.
