Job Description

The Senior Manager in Product Management will be responsible for the long-term profitable growth and life cycle management of the assigned Product Lines and Products. Drives generation of product ideas together with Advanced Engineering, leads business case development for early stage (innovation stage and pre-launch) as well as technology by analyzing market potential and identifies future demands based on insight into industry and customer trends. Champions identified product opportunities internally, obtains Executive Management approvals, subsequently, ensures the launch and execution of NTI development programs.

Throughout the lifecycle, will track the fulfillment of released business case assumptions for the assigned Product Lines and Products (e.g. volume, pricing, conversion cost, purchased component cost, etc.), identify deviations and be accountable for compensatory actions, which this position will drive together with the relevant functional and business teams. Further, will continuously identify further opportunities to improve upon the business plan and drive such action in the same way.

Towards the end of the product lifecycle, defines and implements a strategy for supply of post-series demand or replacement parts respectively. Continuously, will screen the existing portfolio of Products within the Assigned Product Lines with the intention of reducing complexity.

Additional Responsibilities:

Executes the strategic direction, leading all facets of product marketing, product development strategy and supporting global manufacturing strategy.

Grows the business, delivers or surpass’ the committed level of profitability, and ensures outstanding customer satisfaction.

For customer acquisitions concretely, will provide product-specific support to the customer-teams in the form of Technical Sales, closely aligning with Key Account Management and Customer BUs.

Function as business leader, portfolio advocate and internal champion of assigned product lines and products through full lifecycle.

Through the voice of the customer and anticipating future demand, defines product strategy and has final decision-making authority on the functional specs the project will address.

Creates, aligns and commits to the Strategic Business Plan of assigned Product Lines.

Drives generic product development as Project Sponsor of NTI development projects.

Ensures global and regional sales strategies are cohesive, defining target customers and market criteria that drive regional activity prioritization.

Partners with business leaders to establish and achieve profitability targets.

Drives global and regional supply chain and manufacturing strategies to achieve company objectives with targeted customer and/or market segments.

Develops and deploys comprehensive global market-driven pricing strategies based on value provided and competitive landscape, govern its implementation.

Determines regional resource gaps in capacity or technology and ensure plans are in place to remove or minimize the impact of the gaps.

Manages the transfer of knowledge between Engineering Development Homerooms and regional users utilizing the engineering leaders’ knowledge and abilities of the assigned products.

Synchronizes sales, operations, and finance through establishing working relationships with respective functional owners in these areas.

Supports the commercial teams with product-specific details in selling to OEM customers.

Builds strong relationships with customer base and becomes knowledgeable of their requirements, future plans and needs.

Works with Corporate Communications and Product Marketing to establish and implement a global marketing plan for the assigned products.

Identifies opportunities to enhance the Tenneco’s Intellectual Property portfolio and integrate that portfolio into the global marketing strategy.

Works with regional stakeholders to ensure the product range is legally compliant in the region (registration, labeling, packaging, transportation, foreign trade). Includes interaction with those stakeholders in product management and qualification related issues.

Required Experience

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or Technical field.

10 years of experience.

Five years in an engineering role and a minimum five years in an account / product management role.

Experience managing products through development, launch and lifecycle is highly desired.

Background in Sales, Account Management, Engineering or Manufacturing.

Proven track record of successful complex project management, including adherence to timelines, in development or product engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to build, motivate and excite a strong cross-functional team and to maintain cross-organizational relationships.

Good business acumen and strategic agility with proven leadership skills and experience in managing global programs.

Ability to exercise informal leadership in complex organizations.

Works well under pressure in a dynamic environment.

Ability to translate and communicate complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences.

Professional presence and confidence presenting ideas and offerings to others with ability to communicate, present, negotiate and influence at all levels of the organization.

Ability to make difficult, data driven decisions with a sense of urgency in a results-oriented and collaborative environment.

Understanding of APQP and industry Quality standards.
