Overview of the Department

The Internal Audit Group (IAG) is a worldwide function with approximately 150 team members and offices in 7 countries. IAG has a mandate to remain an independent and objective function that provides assurance and consulting activities that are designed to add value and improve the Company's operations. IAG executes various activities with the goal of assisting our business partners in accomplishing shared objectives, such as: bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

IAG’s growing data analytics team is responsible for end-to-end development and maintenance of analytics that support the department’s audits, special projects, and business monitoring efforts.

The successful candidate will be a key player in providing quality data analytics solutions to the internal audit group.

Job Description * Partner with the IAG audit teams to develop data-intensive assessments of key processes, risks, and controls to develop and impact Analytics Control Tests (ACTs), including visualizations and audit workflow * Develop and maintain a portfolio of analytics * Develop and maintain executive dashboards and reporting * Develop and maintain ACT dashboards and reporting (by audit entity and portfolio) to support Audit Leaders and Team Leaders * Independently review analytics, code, and visualizations for completeness and accuracy * Ensure the audit objective is being met by the analytics * Document all analytics work using standard operating procedures and checklists * Review data for completeness and accuracy before presentations to senior leaders * Analyze and interpret the results of Analytics Control Tests (ACTs) as part of an integrated audit team * Collaborate with peers to understand data structures, gather business requirements, and produce analytic results * Communicate complex technical projects to non-technical, senior level audiences * Train and mentor other staff in DAI best practices * Coach direct reports in all aspects of their IAG DAI role and the audit lifecycle

6 - 8 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, or equivalent

Experience within internal audit, risk management, or banking/finance industry is preferred.

BA or BS in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent degree, or related field is preferred.

Professional certification - Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or equivalent

Analytics experience in internal audit, risk management, and/or banking industry

Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Python, R, SAS, Microsoft Access, Hive, and/or Spark

Proficiency in data mining, search functions, relationships between variables, etc

Experience with relational databases, Big Data, and/or ETL processes

Strong technical skills working with data in a variety of technology environments

Experience with Data visualization (Tableau), KRIs, KPIs, and Scorecards

Skills in problem solving and resourcefulness to quickly and independently solve problems, debug code, and produce results

Strong communication skills with the ability to convey relevant insight and present on data analysis and trends with clarity and professionalism

Ability to work across teams and partner to drive business results

Familiarity with the audit lifecycle, including business process, risks, and controls

Credit card industry experience and an understanding of charge card products, features, and economics is a plus

Knowledge of key regulations in the banking industry

Experience working in a fast paced environment, utilizing related projectmanagement skills, employing creative thinking, focus on quality, and ability to work on competing priorities

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
