Position
Description

The Tax Department is a dynamic organization that
analyzes new transactions, business flows, changes in tax laws and Tax/US GAAP reporting
continuously.   The department uses a significant amount of data to execute their critical day to day processes and maintain
compliance with local and federal requirement.

The Senior Tax Manager will primarily be responsible
for analyzing and managing all aspects of the Company’s multi-state and local income
and franchise tax compliance and state tax provision under ASC 740. The Manager
will be charged with process improvement initiatives for the state tax return compliance,
provision, and documentation procedures by leveraging technology to drive
connectivity, efficiency and effectiveness in a well-control environment.

The position will report to the Director of Tax
Operations and work with all areas of the tax department such as tax controversy,
tax accounting, and planning.

Main areas of responsibility include:

•        
Lead the accurate and timely preparation of multi-state income and
franchise returns (annual, quarterly, extensions) and provide analytical
support such as state apportionment factors and modifications
\r
•        
Plan for and develop overall state tax compliance calendar and
prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a timely manner
\r
•        
Drive process improvement with respect to state tax compliance and
provision and implement technology tools and automation of processes
\r
•        
Partner with the tax accounting team in order to meet ASC 740
reporting requirements, including calculating and analyzing the state effective
tax rate, reviewing the state tax provision, reconciling the state payable, and
documenting state tax positions
\r
•        
Manage state and local tax notices and assist with or support state
tax audit examination
\r
•        
Develop models to forecast consequences of tax planning
strategies, corporate M&A transactions, pending legislation and new
business initiatives
\r
•        
Research and document relevant tax laws in support of tax return
positions and tax planning and provide guidance for changes as applicable
\r
•        
Identify and analyze tax saving opportunities through defendable
state tax filing positions
\r
•        
Work closely with the various accounting groups to obtain
necessary information
\r
•        
Ensure US SOX compliance with all Company policies and procedures,
including safety rules and  regulations         
\r

Special projects, as assigned

least 5 -7 years of experience – pharmaceutical industry a plus

Excellent
process management, organizational and time management skills\r

Good
understanding of corporate taxation and tax provisions (ASC 740)\r

Experienced
in use of tax software applications, such as OneSource (Provision and Income
Tax)\r

Familiarity
with state and local tax laws as well as the ability to perform tax research\r

High
level of demonstrated technical proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook,
Word, PowerPoint)\r

Must
be organized and flexible in a fast-changing environment\r
