Data is a key ingredient for Groupon and Groupon's Consumer Insights team acts as the internal voice of the Groupon customer and merchant, using research and data to inform and guide decisions throughout all aspects of the business. The team is in a unique position of offering insights and gaining visibility throughout the entire business. Partnering with the various departments as an in-house consultant CI utilizes various tools (primary research, external third-party research, syndicated tools, etc.) to provide answers to crucial business questions.

Reporting to the VP of Consumer Insights, the Senior Manager is responsible for managing Merchant & Product Research, providing strategic and analytical guidance to these core groups of the Groupon organization.

Responsibilities

Provide top line and detailed analysis, reports, presentations and highlights covering Groupon categories/ brands

Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze industry dynamics in order to formulate robust and timely strategic planning in order to support the Sales and Product teams.

Handle multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently juggle workload in the face of shifting priorities and deadlines

Manage 1-2 direct reports and multiple contractors

Qualifications

Minimum (7-10) years' experience in research with knowledge of a variety of traditional and non-traditional research tools

At least one (1) year management experience at a Manager or Sr. Manager level, leading and managing a team

Experience on the research supplier and research (corporate) client side of business

Excellent writing and verbal presentation skills

Proficient in all MS Office products, especially PowerPoint and Excel

Experience interfacing with senior level leadership

Experience managing, budgets, vendor relationships, and negotiating contracts

Desired Characteristics

Working knowledge of SPSS and SQL

Superior strategic and analytical skills

Strong research ethics

Comfort in drawing sound, analytically based conclusions, even when faced with imperfect information and uncertainty

Refined communication skills, both written and oral; ability to communicate complex concepts in simple, brief manner to non-research audiences

Broad range of knowledge or familiarity with various aspects of ecommerce, online marketing, and specifically Groupon, INC. businesses.

Intellectual curiosity about and passion for research

Comfort in managing multiple projects concurrently, and satisfying aggressive time deadlines

Desire to consistently perform at the highest level in fast paced, dynamic environment
