The Opportunity

Senior Global Finance Initiatives & Transformation Project Manager

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Leads transformation programs for the Global Financial Services organization and facilitates the implementation of improvements across Tokyo, New York and Columbus. Projects managed include Global Finance business process improvement, documentation, and strategic design including supporting business process redesign for finance areas requiring significant transformation. Recognizes and promotesthe importance of transformation, process improvement, global governance and balancing enterprise and local financial and regulatory requirements.Coordinates and partners with Corporate Divisions such as Financial Services, Global Investments, Global Risk and Actuarial on interrelated projects

Works collaboratively on the design, implementation and communication of the Global Finance roadmap to achieve operational excellence, organizational alignment and drive continuous improvement

Coordinates ongoing project tracking and reporting against key project performance indicators and assessment and mitigation plans on any potential issues

Partners with internal audit to ensure an effective compliance and governance process and monitors progress, risks/issues, and barriers; creates applicable mitigation strategies

Manages Financeproject resource management, prioritization, resource application and integration across Aflac; collaborates with other Aflac divisions including Financial Services, Risk, GI, Actuarial, Human Resources, Audit and Compliance to engage appropriate resources and to ensure successful integration; continually evaluates processes, programs, policies and tools in support of strategic goals and continuous improvement objectives

Facilitates theoverarching governance program for the Financial Services business process improvement efforts and trains accordingly

Identifiessubject matter experts or brings expertise to support multi-functional efforts in process improvement, data capture and analysis, infrastructure support, tool ownership and compliance

Exploresbest practices and alternative financial platform structures such as outsourcing and offshoring efforts inclusive of workforce planning, standardized governance, focused methodology, continuous improvement and consistent processes and procedures

Prepares and deliverscomprehensive initiative presentations for senior leadership, focusing on scope, timeline, expense and overall ROI on key finance projects

Reviews, engages, and negotiatesassociated consulting mandates involving key finance projects and actively manages key relationships and effectiveness of engagements

Leads Financial Services Transformationinitiatives including change management and organizational redesign to ensure proper talent utilization and BAU execution upon completion of key projects

Proactively supports leaders to manage staff development, as needed,including individual team goals, coaching and counseling, training, mentoring and career planning

Manages corporateprojects for accounting, investment accounting,financial reporting, tax, treasury, corporate finance, corporate development, and investor and rating agency relations

Performsother duties as assigned

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or a related discipline and eight years of professional job-related work experienceoran equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience with Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and performance metrics

Experience with Aflac financial systems and processes is preferred

Contract negotiation and consultant management experience

MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting preferred

CPA qualification not required but relevant accounting experience preferred

Job Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, JGAAP, U.S. and Japan regulatory reporting, general investment and capital dynamics

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to work in a matrix environment, earning the trusted relationships across the organization to succeed as a project manager

Familiarity with Japan/U.S. business, financial and communication dynamics

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to travel, as required, including regular trips to Japan
