Role Value Proposition:

This role is responsible for various aspects within the Enterprise Expense Reporting, Budget and Allocations Team, as well as provide support for the development and maintenance of financial based metrics that will support and guide business and financial decisions. This will be done through the creation and continued enhancement of unit costs, activity based costing models, expense allocations, and industry benchmarking. Involved in all aspects including data collection, comparison of actual v. planning, and profitability analysis, in addition to other key criterion measuring success.

The position requires a broad understanding of GAAP, Statutory and SEC expense reporting requirements, experience in analyzing, understanding and explaining financial performance. Position requires ability to deal with period end closing processes and procedures, complex accounting transactions, and to understand expenses within the many legal entities comprising the enterprise, and an understanding of the underlying systems and reporting tools supporting Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities include the preparation of the Enterprise Expense Taxonomy/ORL Report to support the close process. In addition to the coordination and preparation of Budget and Allocation process/reports. The position requires an understanding of GAAP, SEC and Statutory reporting requirements, the interpretation of results of complex consolidation practices and their financial statement presentation, an understanding of the many legal entities comprising the enterprise and period-ending close processes and procedures. The principal accountabilities of the position are as follows:

Preparation and review of various Enterprise Expense Reports and analyze actual vs forecast expenses to assist in the final sign-off of expenses.

Prepare monthly journals entries as necessary; included but not limited to reclass and other changes.

Development and maintenance of financial models with multiple inputs from financial systems to calculate expense prorates across legal entities and products.

Documents key processes, procedures and metrics. Identify, implement or strengthen internal controls in existing/new processes.

Partner with Functional Teams and other operational areas to assist in the facilitation of the annual budget process.

Leverage emerging technologies to automate reporting functions.

May act as the Expense Audit Liaison and assist in maintaining a sound internal control environment in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) surrounding expense reporting.

Participate as a team member or may manage basic to more complex assignments or projects.

Exhibits and is recognized for a high-level of financial expertise gained through a serious of professional assignments and ongoing career development.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

7 years of experience in the Financial Accounting and Reporting roles, preferably in the insurance industry.

BA/BS Accounting or Finance, CPA/MBA is preferred.

Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and practices.

Very strong analytical skills and ability to provide interpretation and meaning to period to period financial changes and trends.

Ability to present and communicate financial data concisely and clearly with conclusions and recommendations in a manner that both financial and non-financial audiences can understand.

Experience in general ledgers and reporting tools, such as: SAP, PeopleSoft, Hyperion and HFM is a plus.

Ability to identify and resolve issues independently.

Very strong problem solving, communication, organizational and information technology skills.

Flexible, adaptable and able to handle multiple complex tasks under very aggressive timelines.

Ability to build partnerships and collaborate with others.
