Senior Environmental Specialist (Air)

Targa Resources Corp. has an immediate opportunity in our Corporate Offices for a Senior Environmental Specialist in the air compliance team which focuses on working across operating areas to assist with regulatory air compliance through collaboration with engineering and operations.  The position will also implement new programs across the company.  This position is located in the Oklahoma City Regional Office and will report to the Corporate Manager, Air Compliance.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct and manage air audits of air permits and regulations across Targa to identify risks and best practices.

Collaborate directly with engineering and operations to determine recommended improvements in processes, management systems, procedures, and operating equipment to comply with environmental requirements.

Complete regulatory analysis and generate compliance tools for new regulations

Provide assistance in resolving issues concerning environmental compliance through research and conferring with appropriate personnel.

Develop and deliver employee training on air compliance.

Communicate effectively to different levels of company on permitting and regulatory requirements.

Engage and manage consultants on air compliance projects, as needed.

Build effective relationships with all operating areas and industry peers

Participate in industry advocacy groups

Maintain a working knowledge of existing and proposed regulations that affect Targa operations through training classes, lunch and learn, and conference attendance.

Minimum Essential Qualifications

B.S. in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related science based degree where the candidate took at least one college level calculus and chemistry, related science, and/or physics class.  Will consider other degrees only where candidate has 8 years of direct work experience in air compliance or permitting.

8 years of related air permitting, air compliance, or engineering experience in the energy industry.  Will consider other related fields of experience.

Must demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.

Strong problem solving skills.

Fluent English verbal and written skills.

Intermediate level desktop computer skills using Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Ability to travel away from Oklahoma City overnight periodically, as needed.

Physical ability to work in the plant site and accompany regulators on plant tours.

Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision

Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex).

Regular and reliable attendance

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in natural gas gathering and processing.

Experience with PROMAX, TANKS 4.09d, GRI-GLYCalc, and AMINECalc simulation programs.

Related work experience with air regulations in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and North Dakota.

Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside the company (regulatory agencies, contractors, consultants). 

Effective time management skills

Ability to be flexible and manage change.

Ability to organize and work self-sufficiently given direction and resources.
