The Endomechanical business within Ethicon, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Senior Director, Global Strategic Marketing- Endocutters, located in the Cincinnati, OH headquarters. The position will require up to 40% travel. Ethicon's Endomechanical business creates medical devices that enable surgery to be less invasive and have fewer complications. The business is comprised of laparoscopic and open staplers that are used in the most complex surgical oncology procedures, trocars that enable surgical instrument access in laparoscopic surgery, ligation devices that clamp vessels to prevent bleeding, and other endoscopic instruments that are used to manipulate tissue. Endocutters, or laparoscopic staplers, are highly sophisticated, mission critical instruments that transect and flawlessly seal tissue with upwards of 80 precisely placed staples. Endocutters represent over a $1B in revenue and half of the total Endomechanical business. The Senior Director, Global Strategic Marketing Endocutters is responsible for leading the worldwide Endocutter business. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Strategic Marketing, Endomechanical, this role is responsible for the brand management, portfolio profitability and new product pipeline for one of the fastest growing and important platforms in J&J Medical Devices. You will manage a team of 8 global marketers and lead an extended cross-functional team including leaders from R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Finance, Supply Chain, Business Development and Medical as well as commercial leaders from the regions. The Endocutter GSM role is a unique opportunity for a high potential leader to manage all aspects of a global $1B fast growing business. The Senior Director will provide leadership in all areas of the marketing mix related to customer insight, new product development pipeline, market segmentation, product positioning, KOL engagement, and competitive dynamics. Leading a team of marketers, they will be responsible for: Defining worldwide (WW) marketing strategies
Delivering the WW business
Developing the innovation strategy for the 7-year Strategic Plan horizon, including integration with the Digital Surgery platform, management of strategic partnerships and L&A opportunities Developing global insights to drive new product concepts and marketing strategies Building the business cases for new product innovations and L&A opportunities
Management of New Product Innovation pipeline, including meeting key development milestones
Work closely with the regional marketing teams to execute marketing plans Developing the positioning, pricing and marketing strategy for all new products, and working closely with the regions to deliver new product launch forecasts. Creating relationships with WW key opinion leaders
Driving value based healthcare initiatives through key claims and a robust evidence strategy
Forecasting customer demand and participating in development of demand forecasts for new products across product lines. Managing portfolio profitability and the global P&L Enhancing the marketing acumen of the team. Providing leadership, support and expertise across the organization; including input into product development teams, driving customer insights and leading US insight into cross functional teams. Building a pipeline of talent and fostering a culture of engagement within the team. Qualifications The Senior Director is expected to lead cross functional teams and influence effectively in a matrix environment, with a proven ability to motivate successful teams. Success in this role requires the ability to drive strategy and influence senior leadership as well as the ability to deliver results through outstanding execution. You will need to manage and embrace change with enthusiasm, self- motivation and a willingness to accept accountability and manage projects through to successful conclusions. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; MS / MBA or equivalent business experience is preferred. A minimum of 5 years marketing experience is required. A minimum of 8 years of business experience required. At least 5 years of prior leadership experience with people management responsibility is required. Experience managing large teams and the ability to identify and develop talent required. Demonstrated track record of increased marketing responsibilities, preferably within the same company is preferred. Cross-functional experience is preferred (i.e. Sales, Finance, R&D, etc.). Medical device or healthcare industry is preferred. Experience identifying important, non-obvious customer insights and turning those insights into new product concepts required. Strong strategic and analytic skills required. Proven ability to go from strategy to execution and deliver results in the market required. Experience launching new products required. Experience in marketing programs to create new markets or market segments is preferred. Knowledge of marketing research and analysis, including (VOC) voice of the customer is required. Experience in positioning and re-positioning brands is required. New product development process experience is required. This role will require up to 40% travel.
