The Senior Data Modeler, with others, establishes and manages

data governance framework, which will be designed to ensure the accuracy of

asset-related information.  The incumbent

provides the necessary technical expertise to achieve Shared Services Data

Governance Program quality objectives and supports the creation of data

governance policies and standards enabling the proactive identification of discrepancies

by establishing data cross-validation between databases and management

practices common to database management. 

The Senior Data Modeler establishes master data management capabilities

to remove duplicates, standardize data, and incorporate rules meant to

eliminate incorrect data from entering the system so that an authoritative

source of master data is created.  The

incumbent also updates and maintains data asset-related artifacts, including

but not limited to data dictionaries, an index of data attributes, a document

naming schema, taxonomies, and governance policies and rules.  Accomplishing key activities will result in recommendations

for enhancements to systems of record and other authoritative sources to

improve accuracy of operational data.','!*!ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Create data inventory and data flow diagrams that reflect

how asset-related data exists and travels throughout systems and the organization.Maintain up to date ecosystem of data transformation process

flows for business processes and data integrations through IT systemsContribute to the creation of data quality policies and standards

designed to ensure a high level of asset-related integrity.Initiate and develop data analyses models, specifically to

identify new trends and root causes effecting data quality.Rationalize and update the asset-related data dictionary and

document naming schema and recommend ways to automate compliance with the

standards.Develop and implement processes to ensure, through analysis,

the integrity of asset information to identify data discrepancies.Create methodologies required to correlate discrepancies

between multiple databases for data and document cleanup.Recommend maintenance enhancements to data acquisition

processes to improve accuracy of data repositories.Create and maintain the master data metadata repository.Design and implement the domain authority models for master

data creation and maintenance.Create a process to allow for the review referential

integrity of data.Develop and implement techniques to review historical

integrity of data.Use asset information systems to oversee the creation of

role-based user rights and permissions, by individual, role, and department.Work with Systems Administrators to ensure user permission

rights and roles are properly assigned, by role, in document repositories and

other asset-related databases.Understand and describe the correlation between asset-related

data and document information and other structured database systems and

workflows.Provide recommendations for measuring and improving the

effectiveness and efficiency of data governance, operational control processes,

and compliance activities.Prepare and create monthly and quarterly reports

highlighting methods to align program activities with desirable business

outcomes.Assist with the development of qualitative metrics to

proactively manage program performance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven expertise in data modeling and/or data architecture

skills.Expert with Microsoft Office applications such as

SharePoint, Excel, Access, and Visio or other enterprise document management

database systems.Superior computer skills, including the ability to write

macros for standard business software, configure commercial off-the-shelf

systems, and perform simple programming.Ability to educate and influence program stakeholders about

program goals, objectives, and approach.Exceptional ability to think analytically and work with

large volumes of data and documents.Strong follow-up skills; ability to organize applicable

timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs.Strong written and oral communication skills, including the

ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple

tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of

duties and functions in a fast paced environment.Strong track record of building and maintaining solid

relationships with internal and external customers and vendors.Self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete

tasks and respond to department requests and with others to utilize their

resources and knowledge to identify high quality solutions.Ability to work with different functional groups and levels

of employees throughout the organization to effectively and professionally

achieve results

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree required, with a concentration in

Information Technology or Business preferredExperience with data governance solution tools such as

Collibra, Informatica, and Information Builders preferred.Minimum of 3 years data profiling and/or modeling experience

requiredSuperior understanding of and experience with structured

databases, information architecture, metadata management, and documentation

required

 

 

ENVIRONMENT:

 

Approximately 90% performed in climate-controlled internal

office environment working under normal office conditions.  Approximately 10% travel may be required in

support of the position’s responsibilities.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is

regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and

handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear.  While performing the duties of this job, the

employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or
