Senior Cost Accountant

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for reporting, control and analysis of operations in the areas of inventory, costing/reporting, purchasing, capital tracking and maintaining applicable ERP cost system modules. Positional goals include maintaining physical inventory accuracy and creating awareness of product profit margins. All duties will be performed under supervision of the Controller.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 





  • Leads financial operations in inventory management by developing and improving control policies, procedures, methods and systems.


  • Leads annual physical inventory counts along with reviewing daily cycle count data, performing root cause analysis of discrepancies.


  • Performs setup and maintenance of ABC stratification codes, labor rates, overhead rates, and annual standard cost rollup.


  • Develops root cause analyses and corrective actions to improve business processes by comparing actual cost incurred to estimates.


  • Develops an understanding of the product lines by working with Purchasing, Operations and Sales & Marketing.


  • Works closely with ops team to ensure proper time keeping actions and material transactions are performed daily.


  • Develops and maintains a weekly reporting framework consisting of inventory trends, absorption analysis, utilization, efficiency & productivity metrics.


  • Prepare month end close Cost Accounting entries and prepare relevant monthly variance analysis reports (MFG, Material, PPV, etc).


  • Maintenance and analysis of product line gross margins.


  • Maintenance of fixed asset (FAS) tracking and reporting on monthly basis.


  • Reconciles inventory and capital accounts monthly.


  • Tracks all expenses associated with capital projects.


  • Review bills of materials and labor routings to assure costing accuracy.


  • Assists Controller in monthly forecasting & yearly budgeting process.


  • Performs any other assigned duty as directed by management.






ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Additional responsibilities will be assigned as directed by the Controller for the site.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:





  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent required.


  • CPA preferred


  • 3+ years' work experience with manufacturing businesses.


  • Experience in Microsoft applications (Excel/PowerPoint/Word)


  • Experience with inventory costing and inventory control systems.


  • Oracle or Macola ERP software experience a plus.
