Job Description

Were looking for a jack-of-all trades copy generalist to fill out our team of food lovers must be comfortable writing headlines, taglines, emails, long-form blog posts and web pages, social copy and more. This role will sit on our new creative team the writers, designers and thinkers responsible for turning strategy briefs into the customer-facing cool stuff that builds brand love and drives the business.


- Channel brand guidelines to create tight, compelling headlines and subheds for in-store signage, digital banner ads and printed mailers and menus.

- Collaborate with digital editor and marketing program managers to write compelling, click-y long-form copy for blog posts. Topics could include: New product round-ups, recipe round-ups, culinary trend round-ups, supplier profiles, chef profiles, culinary how-tos, seasonal food guides and more.

- Write clear, informative promotional copy for printed and digital sales flyers, radio scripts and emails.

- Collaborate with social media team on copy for Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter to promote content for seasonal marketing campaigns.

- Contribute culinary content ideas to monthly and seasonal brainstorms.

- Collaborate with editors to proof digital and printed materials for accuracy, spelling, grammar and adherence to AP Style/WFM Content Style Guide/Quality Standards.

- Collaborate with designers during the creative process on photo selection, design and overall strength of each asset to a strong finished product.

- Present your work to Creative Director, Design Director and Editorial Director in preparation for Marketing Leadership review and approval.


- Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, advertising or related field

- Prefer 5-8 years experience in a brand content marketing or agency copywriting role.

- Familiarity with digital editing/proofing and project management software such as Proof HQ, Workfront and Opal a plus.

- Demonstrated experience creating content for a brand. (Will require portfolio.)

- Must have the ability to quickly research and build a knowledge base on a variety of topics, and create the context necessary for communicating that information clearly to customers.

- Food writing and culinary experience strongly preferred, but not required.

- Must be comfortable presenting work to executive-level leadership.

- Must be comfortable working in a highly collaborative creative environment where ideas will be challenged and feedback given.

- Must have a commitment to a positive, solutions-oriented attitude, while having fun and inviting innovation.

- Must be familiar with Whole Foods Market culture, brand and Core Values.

- Must have established writing, editing and proofreading skills including excellent English grammar, spelling and punctuation.

- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle confidential information.

- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency.

- Must love snacking :)
