Senior Consultant, Strategy and Governance','174729','!*!This position delivers strategic consulting services to assist clients in all aspects of an effective data and analytics program, including people (roles and organization), processes, and technologies, including considerations of a comprehensive analytical ecosystem that may include Teradata, open source, and a variety of 3rd party technologies. This consultant provides guidance to all levels of client management leveraging best practices, intellectual property, subject matter experts (internal and 3rd party), and personal experience. This consultant is also responsible for participating in continuous improvement of Teradata services and collateral. Working with business consultants, ecosystem architects, technology specialists, and others, the consultant will lead services that assist clients in establishing and implementing data strategies and governance functions for all types of data used in analytics. These services include: • Roadmapping – leading and defining all or part of a data strategy, to include identification of business initiatives, shared data needs, analytical applications, infrastructure, and enabling capabilities, such as governance and related data management capabilities. • Data governance planning and implementing – establishing a function within an organization to ensure readiness of data to support top business initiatives, solve operational issues, and provide business oversight and involvement in data management activities (e.g., data quality management, metadata management, security / privacy) • Data and analytics program assessment – assessing (and in some cases guiding the implementation of) all major data and analytics functions, including organization structure, processes, architecture principles, core artifacts, and other organizational enablers based while leveraging and contributing to reference operating model artifacts. Virtual position with travel, location is nationwide ','!*!Applicant Requirements • Ability to work with business and IT groups to understand client-specific needs, apply best practices, and develop practical strategies for the program, including people, processes, and technologies • Experience in enterprise data management and enterprise data and analytics, including the ability to articulate business value in one or more industries and for specific clients and business situations • Experience assessing and improving all aspects (people, process, technology) of data and analytics programs • Experience in development methodologies, especially as it applies to data and analytics, from business strategies and requirements through logical modeling, physical database design, data sourcing, data transformation, business intelligence design, development, testing, and implementation • Ability to understand and assimilate intellectual property or similar experience, including the ability to leverage and assimilate artifacts created by others • Ability to navigate diverse information sources, assets, and informal networks, such as Teradata internal repositories, SME networks, and other resources while determining usability and applicability of artifacts and advice • Ability to work with support teams to capture and communicate the availability of best practices and artifacts • Ability to understand, assess, and subsequently navigate Teradata organizations including department roles and functions (e.g., marketing, service offer management, industry teams, centers of expertise) • Ability to provide client-specific advice while abstracting out commonalities across clients and projects to increase reusability and consistency • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to create and deliver proposals, presentations, workshops, etc. • Ability to work with people at all levels, from data management practitioners (developers, DBAs, etc.) to “C” level executives • Ability to proactively support sales teams in positioning services to prospects and existing clients • Ability to provide thought leadership and mentorship to other consultants • Ability to coordinate the activities of consultants with deep expertise in specific areas and to produce cohesive and coherent deliverables • Understanding of tools and technologies available within the data and analytic ecosystem, with the ability to understand functional purpose of tools and fit within a typical project, without necessarily having direct experience in each technology • Experience with and/or knowledge of Teradata technologies and solutions such as database, utilities, tools, and applications, including appropriate fit of Teradata DBMS, Hadoop, and various 3rd party tools • Understanding of governance practices for data and analytics deployment and management Minimum Requirements: • 12 years of IT experience, including data management, business intelligence, analytics and supporting tools, practices, and roles • 8 years experience in project leadership and/or area management, including responsibilities for people, processes, and technologies • Teradata experience preferred • 5 years of strategic consulting or similar experience • Proven track record in developing and capturing best practices, standards, and methodologies • Willing to travel 70 % • Willing and able to work virtual (from home) while not traveling, using Teradata facilities where available Key Areas of Responsibility: • Deliver consulting services with a high degree of client and account team satisfaction • Create and drive consistent processes and practices that support quality outcomes and continuous growth in revenue and profitability • Demonstrate decision-making and problem-solving skills by critically evaluating and synthesizing information from various sources • Identify both new and existing accounts that could benefit from a special focus on broad-based assistance leveraging best practices • Proactively capture reusable artifacts and other intellectual property • Support/drive selling opportunities • Play a leadership role on strategic consulting engagements and coordinating the activities of business and technology experts • Obtain and share knowledge across industries to establish consistency and continuously improve capability of consulting services • Meet or exceed individual billable hours goals while contributing to team goals • Stay current on industry trends, partners, and competition in the data and analytics industries • Establish/maintain personal credibility with clients, account teams, peers, and other stakeholders • Establish trusted advisor status with account teams and clients, especially at the management level up to “C” level Work Environment: • Work within a project team environment where results will be based on cooperation and/or influence • Proactively interact with account teams, professional services
