The Senior Business & Technical Consultant serves as business experts for business specific systems, processes and data, to plan and manage improvement initiatives. This could include statistical analysis, business case preparation, time study analysis, cost benefit analysis and return on investment analysis. Individuals have a level of business expertise and provide subject matter expertise. They work on business critical systems and/or processes. They design, revise and implement solutions to meet customer & business needs. They exhibit autonomy in applying tools, methodologies and governance structures that align with business objectives for multiple departmental groups.

Projects are large, cross multiple groups. Individual operates with minimal supervision and Increased Latitude for Unreviewed Work:. The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Provides / Serves as a central contact for technical expertise and business process guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems and the advancement of opportunities.

Implements and integrates complex business changes across multiple, cross-functional departments.

Resolves complex system & business process problems.

Analyzes and develops plan of action to correct or eliminate future issues.

Designs, revises and implements solutions to meet customer and business needs.

Works to integrate solutions into existing business processes.

Helps to manage change and communications across multiple departments.

Prepares thorough and accurate technical and business management reports, effective correspondence, accurate documentation and well-maintained records.

Coordinates and manages subject matter experts from a variety of disciplines and support organizations to provide business and system requirements and validation for business & IT projects.

Responsible for establishing policy and procedures for specific system security in compliance with corporate IT standards.

Define and develop key metrics to measure system/business performance. Lead data analysis and/or root cause investigations that are across multiple work groups or multiple systems.

Provide future direction to external vendors for development of products to resolve business issues.

Coordinate the development of the long-range and 5-year business plans, and budget for the department and assigned locations to ensure compliance with Company strategic plans.

Coaches and mentors business and technical consultants as needed.

Develops and maintains standards and best practices across multiple business units. Qualifications: Basic/Required Qualifications:

4-Year Bachelor’s Degree in Technical or Business related field and 4-6 years of relevant experience OR 7 to 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

Skilled in project management theories and principles.

Skilled in practices of planning, data analysis, evaluating alternatives, and preparing and presenting recommendations

Demonstrated leadership within Duke Energy

Desired Qualifications:

Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Excellent problem solving and analysis skills

Negotiation and conflict management skills

4-Year Bachelor’s Degree in Technical or Business related field

Experience in the utility industry.
